Bariton Paul Armin Edelmann was born in Vienna and later became a member of the Vienna Boys' Choir. In 1986, he began to study singing with his father, the famous bass Kammersaenger Otto Edelmann, at the University Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, from where he graduated in 1992.

Until 1997, Paul Armin Edelmann had a fixed engagement at the Stadttheater Koblenz, where he built up a repertory of 25 lyrical baritone parts in operas and operettas.

In 1997, he returned to Vienna, from where he gave guest performances at the following theatres: Bremer Theater; Landestheater Salzburg; Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden;die Oper der Stadt Köln; Seefestspiele Mörbisch: Die Fledermaus (Falke) with TV broadcast and Video production; Mozart Festival Schönbrunn in Vienna: Die Zauberflöte (Papageno). He also worked with the famous Ernst Fuchs Die Zauberflöte (Papageno) in Bremen, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Amsterdam, Zürich, Frankfurt and Helsinki.

From 1998-2000, he made his hugely successful debut in Die Zauberflöte (Papageno) at the Wiener Staatsoper and sang in the premiere of Salvatore Sciarrino's opera Luci mie traditrici (Il Malaspina) at the Vienna Festival and the Schwetzinger Festival. A further highlight of the season was a concert in the honour of Pope John Paul II in the Vatican in November 1998, which was also broadcast on TV. In 1999, he made his debut at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels with Donizetti's Don Pasquale (Dottor Malatesta), and sang the opening of the Vienna Festival, which was broadcast on TV throughout Europe.

In 2001-2002, he returned to the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels with a song recital and a NEW PRODUCTION of Sciarrino's Luci mie traditrici (Il Malaspina), directed by Trisha Brown. Further highlights of the season were a new production of Die Zauberflöte (Papageno) at the Wiener Staatsoper; Lincoln Center Festival in in New York; Komische Oper Berlin: Der Freischütz (Ottokar); Teatro Real Madrid Die Zauberflöte (Papageno) New Production; Palau de la Musica Valencia: Mozart: Grabmusik, and a concert in Moscow directed by M° Vladimir Fedoseyev.

Highlights of 2003-2004 were the Salzburg Mozartweek (Così fan tutte) and performances at the Oper Frankfurt (Ein Walzertraum, Così fan tutte).

For the seasons 2004-2006, the artist's busy schedule includes guest performances at the Oper Frankfurt (Zauberflöte), performances in the Mozarteum Salzburg, Brucknerhaus Linz (Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen), Philharmonie im Gasteig München, Konzerthaus Dortmund (Fledermaus), San Diego Opera (Zauberflöte & Fledermaus), New National Theatre Tokyo (Fledermaus) and song recitals in Grafenegg, Tokyo, Washington and New York.

During his first 10 years on the opera stage, Paul A. Edelmann has made a name for himself as an ideal interpreter of Mozart, Donizetti and Rossini, and has become one of the most sought-after singers for operetta parts and songs in Austria.

As a concert singer, he has given performances at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein, Salzburger Festspielhaus, and at the Brucknerhaus Linz. He has also given numerous song recitals in the USA, Austria, Japan, Canada, China, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany and Australia.

Together with his brother Peter Edelmann (Baritone), he has appeared in duet song recitals at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, in the USA and in Las Palmas,....

Furthermore, he has captured a large audience with his TV performances for the ORF, ZDF, ARD, 3SAT, CHANNEL 7, RAI UNO, ...
