| After her debut in 1993 in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea (Poppea) in S. Gimignano, Mariella Guarnera started a brilliant career in the major opera and concert houses in Italy and abroad. |
| In past seasons, she sang again in the role of Poppea at the Teatro Verdi di Pisa and at the Teatro Sociale di Mantova, where she also portrayed the role of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro. |
| At the Opéra Comique de Paris and at the Teatro Borgatti di Cento Mariella Guarnera performed as Ernestina in L'occasione fa il ladro and in the role of Lucilla in La scala di seta (Claudio Desderi conductor). |
| 1999/2000 season brought her to the Teatro Regio di Torino for a new production of Madama Butterfly (Suzuki), under the baton of Donato Renzetti. Again in Turin and at the Acropolis in Nice she sang in Wolf Ferrari's Sly (opposite Josè Carreras and with the conducting of Renato Palumbo), and at the Opéra de Nice she performed in Zazà with Fabrizio Maria Carminati. |
| Highlights of Mariella Guarnera's recent engagements include successful interpretations of Eboli in Don Carlo, on concert stage at the Rosetum in Milan, of Suor Angelica in Lucca with the Orchestra della Toscana conducted by Bruno Bartoletti and of Madama Butterfly at the Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago and in Montecarlo. She has recently returned to the Teatro Regio di Torino to sing in Rigoletto, under the baton of Marco Armiliato, and taken part in the world première of Un racconto di Natale. |
| Mariella Guarnera will soon perform in Isabella and Carmen (Mercedes) at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and in L'italiana in Algeri at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. |
| In addition to her vast operatic repertoire, she maintains an active schedule of performances with orchestras throughout the world. In some of the most prestigious concert halls and theatres of Italy and Europe (Zurich, Bern, London), she sang in such concert works as, among others, Vivaldi's and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and in Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus. She has recently performed in Pergolesi's Salve Regina with Orchestra della Toscana in Florence and in Beethoven's Missa solemnis at the Teatro Politeama di Palermo with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (conducted by Alberto Veronesi). |
