Marijana Mijanovic was born in Valjevo, the former Yugoslavia. In 1994, after her piano studies at the Academy of Belgrade she came to the Netherlands and went on to study Voice at Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam with Dutch mezzo-soprano Cora Canne Meijer.@In 1997 she was 1st prize winner of the Jo Bollekamp and at the Erna Spoorenberg Competition, and in the same year she won first prize in the International Opera Competition, the Prix Jeunesse, in Amsterdam's Concertgebouw.@ @With Combattimento Consort Amsterdam and Onafhankelijk Toneel Rotterdam, Marijana Mijanovic sang in Händel's opera Rodelinda that was performed throughout The Netherlands. With William Christie and Les Arts Florissants she took part in several productions such as Händel's opera Alcina at the Baroque Festival de Beaune (France) and Monteverdi's and Gesualdo's madrigals for Kylian ballet at the Opera National de Paris. In Concertgebouw in Amsterdam she sang in Mahler's Das klagende Lied with Hartmut Haenchen conducting the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra, in December 2000 Bach's Christmas Oratorio under Philippe Herreweghe in Milan, Munich, Antwerp, Brussels and Düsseldorf, concerts in Zurich and Basel, Vivaldi's Magnificat in Utrecht as well as La Resurrezione by Händel in Madrid, Utrecht, Den Haag, Maastricht and London.@ @In July 2000 Marijana Mijanovic sang an outstanding Penelope in Monteverdi's opera Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria at the Festival in Aix-en-Provence with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants, which resulted in invitations to sing Penelope again with William Christie in 2002 in Paris, Lausanne, New York, Caen, Bordeaux, London, at the Vienna Festival and again in Aix-en-Provence. In February 2001 the artist made her debut at the Opera National de Paris, singing a Flower maiden in Wagner's Parsifal and at the Nederlandse Opera in Giulio Cesare under Marc Minkowski.@ @Future engagements include:@Lied recitals in Holland, Giulio Cesare with Marc Minkowski in Grenoble, Poissy, Ambronay, Frankfort, Brussels, Valladolid, Vienna and Bremen with a recording for DGG, Christmas Oratorio with the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, Deus Passus by Rihm in Rotterdam, 3. Dame/Die Zauberflöte with Marc Minkowski at the Ruhr-Trienale, Missa Solemnis in Zurich, recording of Vivaldis Bajazet with Fabio Biondi for EMI France, concerts at the Festival St. Denis, Paris, Bertarido in Händel's Rodelinda at the Glyndebourne Festival 2004 (Emmanuelle Haim), Esperanza in Monteverdi's Orfeo with Emmanuelle Haim in London, Paris and with a recording for EMI France. @
