Born in Manfredonia (FG), Rossana Potenza made her professional debut in 1993 at the Teatro Comunale Piccinni di Bari, singing in a concert with oboist Carlo Romano. In 1997 she was the winner of the "Lauri Volpi" Prize in Rome and took part in a Gala concert at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (broadcast by RAIDUE).

She has subsequently attended courses at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese, at the Accademia Paolo Grassi of Martina Franca and at "Riva del Garda Festival", studying under the guidance of Margaret Baker.

She performed in concerts in Naples, Sorrento, Modena, Bari, Rome, Usa, singing, among others, in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater.

In 1997 Rossana Potenza debuted at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in a new production staged by Piero Faggioni of Massenet's Don Quichotte, under the baton of Alain Guingal, and with Ruggero Raimondi, Anna Caterina Antonacci and Philippe Leroy.

1998 season brought her to the Festival della Valle D'Itria of Martina Franca to sing in Giordano's Mese Mariano and to the Budapest Singing Competition, where she won the Special Prize of Radio Stuttgart.

In 1999 Rossana Potenza took part in the season opening of the XXV Festival della Valle D'Itria of Martina Franca, performing in Ippolito e Aricia, under the baton of Guido De Monticelli (recorded by Dynamic). During the same period she made her successful debut in the role of La Bohème at the Teatro Verdi di Padova.

In February 2000 she recorded on Cd Mozart's Exultate Iubilate with the Orchestra "Filarmonica Veneta" of the Teatro Comunale di Treviso. In August, she debuted at the Teatro Mancinelli di Orvieto in Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna), directed by Beppe De Tomasi.

Rossana Potenza regularly performs in recitals, often broadcast by the public Tv. Among them, it is worth mentioning the concert in the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo (December 2000), broadcast by RAIDUE, with Rolando Nicolosi (piano accompanist), Canticum Novum and Piccoli Musici; the Christmas concert in the Basilica of Tricase (Lecce), televised by TMC and recorded on DVD.

Her 2001 season was marked by performances of Fedora (Olga) for the re-opening of the Teatro Umberto Giordano, a concert in the Basilica di S.Paolo Fuori le Mura for the centenary of Giuseppe Verdi's death, with the BBC Symphony Orchestra (broadcast by RAIDUE and DVD recorded), a recital at Teatro Argentina di Roma, (Rolando Nicolosi, pianist) and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater led by Tamas Pal at the Festival di Pasqua in Rome.

In July 2001 she sang in a Concert gala at the Teatro Greco di Taormina with Josè Carreras (televised by RAIDUE). Engagements at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi and at the Teatro Comunale di Mantova have followed (Musetta in La Bohème), as well as the roles of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Argentina staged by Enrico Castiglione, with Renato Bruson (DVD recorded).

She has recently performed in Faurè's Requiem and Bernstein's West Side Story at the Festival Euromediterraneo in Rome, in a concert under the baton of Eve Queler (works by Puccini), Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with the String group of Berliner Philarmoniker, the Christmas concert in the Cathedral of Milan, with Monserrat Caballé and Renato Bruson, (broadcast by Rai and soon on DVD) and in the Gala dedicated to the 40 year of career of Giorgio Merighi, with Mirella Freni.

Forthcoming engagements of Rossana Potenza include, among others, Turandot (Liu) and Roméo et Juliette (Juliette) at Budapest Opera, the debut at Carnegie Hall of New York in Il Corsaro (Medora) in March 2004, Turandot at Connecticut Opera Theatre, La Bohème (Musetta) on a Japan tour organised by the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania, a Gala with Placido Domingo, and some other concerts, such as Mozart's Requiem in Los Angeles with the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra and Pergolesi's Salve Regina with the chamber group of the Berliner Philharmoniker (April 2003). Next release, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Love Opera Gala (music by Puccini) on DVD.
