| After his successful debut in the role of Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro di Marsala, Dario Balzanelli has quickly won recognition across the world performing in the most prestigious opera houses and concert halls in Italy and abroad. |
| Dario Balzanelli was one of the few artists personally selected by Claudio Abbado for Simon Boccanegra's new production at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara and at the Teatro Regio di Parma. |
| He has subsequently performed in Simon Boccanegra for the opening season of the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia (staged by Elio de Capitani) and on a Japan tour under the conducting of Palombo, as well as in a new production of L'elisir d'amore at the Teatro Bonci di Cesena. |
| Dario Balzanelli has also recently taken part in a recital sharing the stage of the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona with Fiorenza Cedolins and in a concert dedicated to Renato Bruson at the Teatro Carrani di Modena. He also sang arias from La forza del destino and Luisa Miller in a concert in Ravenna conducted by Paolo Olmi and took part in a prestigious recital at the Teatro Comunale di Modena. Prestigious were his debuts as Tebaldo in I Capuleti i Montecchi at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, under the baton of Daniele Callegari, and in the role of Ismaele in Nabucco at the Konzert und Theater St.Gallen. |
| In Summer 2000 he toured to Copenhagen with the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, singing as Edmondo in Manon Lescaut under the baton of Yuri Ahronovitch. Again with Ahronovitch and with the staging of Bob Wilson, he returned to Venice to perform the role of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. |
| 1999 brought him to Vienna and to Germany (Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Bonn and Koln) for La Bohème, a work he subsequently revisited at the Teatro Verdi di Sassari. |
| In 1998 he gained great success and enthusiastic approvals debuting the roles of Rodolfo (La Bohème), Macduff (Macbeth) and Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore) at the Teatro Bonci di Cesena, where he returned, in the same role, in October 2001. |
| In 1997 he sang the role of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Alfredo in La traviata at the Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, and performed as Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto at the Teatro Bonci di Cesena. |
| On the concert side, he performed in the most important concert halls and institutions in Austria, Germany, France, Latvia, Canada, Spain, Us. He has recently made his debut in Verdi's Messa da Requiem in Klagenfurt, a work he successfully re-proposed in Imola. Dario Balzanelli will sing in a concert in Bolzano with the Orchestra Haydn, under the baton of Marzio Conti. |
