Nikola Mijailovic was born in 1973 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He holds the Bachelor's Degree from the Vienna Conservatory and the Masters Degree in Opera from the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia, PA. He has also studied at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA and at the Centre de Formation Lyrique at the Opera Bastille in Paris, France.

Nikola Mijailovic has been awarded the First Prize at the Mario Lanza Voice Competition in 1994; he has been a World Winner of the 5th Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition in 1995 and the Leyla Gencer Voice Competition in 1997. He made his professional debut as Schaunard in La Boheme at the Bolshoy Theatre in Moscow in 1996 and the same year sang Marcello next to Mr. Pavarotti's Rodolfo at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia.

In 1997 he was invited to attend the classes at the Accademia di perfezionamento per cantanti lirici at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy. He has taken part in different productions such as Canticum Zaccarie at the Easter Concert of La Scala in 1998 under the baton of Roberto Gabbiani, a concert conducted by M° Riccardo Muti, and the first public performance of Wagner's first opera Die Hochzeit and other productions under the baton of Stefano Ranzani and Giuseppe Montanari.

In March 1998 he has made a debut in The Bells by Rachmaninov under the baton of Vladimir Yurovskij with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milan 'Giuseppe Verdi' and the Chorus of the Kirov Opera. Between 1998 and 1999 he has sung in different productions: Il Conte di Luna in the French version of Verdi's Il Trovatore at the Martina Franca Festival in the summer of 1998 (this production was recorded on CD), Prokofiev's Maddalena at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Lucia di Lammermoor and La Traviata at the Belgrade National Theater, Carmina Burana with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, an operatic Concert in Lecce conducted by Romano Gandolfi. At Teatro alla Scala he did his debut with Die Frau ohne Schatten conducted by Giuseppe Sinopoli in April 1999 and came back in that theatre with Nina, ossia la pazza per amore, by Paisiello. Messa di Gloria by Puccini at Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the first public performance of Donizetti's opera Otto mesi in due ore at the Montpellier Festival of Radio France (available recording on CD) and Verdi?s first edition of Simon Boccanegra at the Martina Franca Festival, Janacek's Cunning Little Vixen and then with the Libeslieder Walzer by Brahms at the Festival Settimane musicali di Stresa.

In 2000 Nikola Mijailovic has returned at the Fenice in Venice with Sadko by Rimskij Korsakov, he has recorded Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in the version for four soloists, La Traviata in Belgrade, Boheme at Las Palmas and at La Scala, Cassandra by Gnecchi at the Montpellier Festival of Radio France, a production recorded by Agorà, and Carmen in Lima, Perù.

In 2001 he had a debut at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania with Bellini's Il Pirata; he has sung Eugene Oneghin, Carmen and La Traviata in Belgrade, a concert with the Teatro alla Scala, Carmina Burana with the Coro filarmonico della Scala at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia and Terme di Caracalla in Rome with chorus and orchestra of Academia di Santa Cecilia, Eugene Oneghin at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona and once more Carmina Burana with the Kirov Orchestra in Ravenna, Macbeth in Poznan (Poland), The love for the three oranges at La Fenice in Venice and Falstaff and La Traviata in Lima, Peru and Havana, Cuba.@Next engagements are Trovatore in Rotterdam, La Favorite at Las Palmas, Faust in Belgrade and Elektra in Verona.
