American bass-baritone; last season starred at the Metropolitan Opera in the title role/Mefistofele, which he has also sung at La Scala; other European engagements include the major houses of Genoa, Amsterdam, Geneva and Nice; recent American successes include the Forester/'The Cunning little Vixen' in Dallas; the Duke of Ferrara (opposite Renée Fleming) in 'Lucrezia Borgia' for Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall; and the leading role of Rucker Lattimore in Carlisle Floyd's 'Cold Sassy Tree' (world premiere) at Houston Grand Opera; future plans include 'Cold Sassy Tree' in San Diego and Austin, and a return to the Met as Mustafà/'L'italiana in Algeri'.
