In 1998 Sergio Foresti made his debut in L'Olimpiade by Vivaldi at the Teatro Rendano di Cosenza.

From then on, he started to appear in some of the most important festivals and theatres throughout Europe. After taking part in the Wexford Opera Festival and in the Opera Barga Festival, he sang as Plutone in Monteverdi's Orfeo at the Festival of Stiria in Graz. In Bassano del Grappa he portrayed the role of Leporello, at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli he sang in Cimarosa's Il marito disperato, followed by a new production of L'incoronazione di Poppea at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in the 2001/2 season. More recently, he appeared at the Teatro Real in Madrid as Achille in Giulio Cesare, a role he will revisit at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, again under the baton of Alessandrini

Sergio Foresti took part in several festivals of ancient music in Holland (Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Nijmegen, Delft), Belgium (Bruges, Antwerpen, Bruxelles, Liège), Austria (Vienna, Linz, Innsbruck, Graz, Krieglach), France (Parigi, Caen, Beaune, Périgueux, Saintes, Ambronay, Nantes, Nice, Montpellier, Sablé sur Sarthe), Switzerland (Zurich, Sion, Genève, Freiburg, Lugano), Germany (Koeln, Herne, Frankfurt, Magonza, Regensburg), Spain, (Santander, Gijon, Oviedo, Ubeda, Granada, Santiago de Compostela, Madrid), Portugal (Povoa de Varzim, Lisbon, Coimbra), England (London, Glasgow, York, Aldeburgh, Edimburg), Ireland (Kilkenny), Norway (Bergen), Finnland (Turku,Vaanta), Israel (Jerusalem, Tel Aviv), Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Shizuhoka), USA (New York), Turkey (Istanbul).

After an initial activity as chorus singer in several theatrical institutions, his particular interest in Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music brought him to perform with numerous ancient music ensembles: among them, Concerto Italiano, Reverdie, Giardino Armonico, Europa Galante, Sonatori della Gioiosa Marca, Accademia degli Invaghiti, Cappella Ducale di Venezia, Accademia Bizantina, Clemencic Consort, Athestis Chorus, Capella Reial, Ensemble a Sei Voci. In this period he had the chance to sing under the baton of Rinaldo Alessandrini, Fabio Biondi, René Clemencic, Enrico Gatti, Jordi Savall. He collaborated as soloist with the Cappella di San Petronio di Bologna, Accademia Chigiana di Siena, Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia di Roma, Ravenna Festival, Rossini Opera Festival, RAI, Radio France, RTSI, WDR.

Sergio Foresti's discography includes recording for Virgin, Opus 111, Tactus, Bongiovanni, Stradivarius, Arcana, Frequenz, Accord, Dynamic, Chandos, Divox.

Born in Modena in 1968, Sergio Foresti graduated with full marks in piano, under the guidance of Germana Ruozi, and in singing with Maria Gabriella Munari at the Istituto Musicale O. Vecchi.

He subsequently took part in the specialising courses held by Liliana Poli and Leonardo De Lisi.
