Muzzi Lorenzo

Born in 1970, Lorenzo Muzzi began his musical career at a very young age performing in the most prestigious Italian theatres.

After his appearance as Oroveso in the stage rehearsals of Norma at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, he sang Verdi's Messa di Requiem and Bastiano e Bastiana in concert at the Circolo Lirico di Bologna and portrayed the role of Conte di Ceprano in Pavia, Bergamo, Brescia and Cremona. He then sang as Gualtiero in Mercadante's Elena da Feltre, as Notaio in Gianni Schicchi at the Wexford Festival, and as Angelotti in Tosca in Manchester.

Winner of the Spoleto Competition in 1998, he made his debut in the role of Don Giovanni at the Teatro Caio Melisso. He has subsequently debuted the roles of Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Verdi di Salerno and of Il Conte d'Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro in Spoleto, and sang Il barbiere di Siviglia (Fiorello) in Pisa, Lucca, Mantova, Livorno and at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

In 1999 Lorenzo Muzzi covered the role of Don Giovanni at the Teatro alla Scala. He then debuted the role of Colline in the As.Li.Co. production of La Bohème at the Teatro Brancaccio di Roma, sang as Marchese in La traviata in Cagliari and as Conte in Le nozze di Figaro in Palermo, and covered the role of Mefistofele under the direction of Daniele Abbado at the Teatro Verdi di Messina.

His 2000/1 season was marked by performances of Lucrezia Borgia at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, L'ascesa e caduta della città di Mahagonny in Messina and Simon Boccanegra (Pietro, cover) at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara.

He opened the 2001/2 season of the Teatro Rendano di Cosenza singing there in Consuelo, then returned to Bologna for Pique Dame under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski, a new production also toured to Modena and Ferrara. During the same season, it is worth mentioning the world première of Il processo by Colla at the Teatro alla Scala and at the Teatro Valli di Reggio Emilia, as well as his portraying of the role of Caronte in L'Orfeo in Lugano and Bruges with the RTSI Swiss Radio Television.

In Summer 2002, he returned to the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari for Rigoletto, followed by the successful debut on the stage of the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia in La Traviata (Dottor Grenvil).

He has recently made two important debuts: in Turandot in Modena, Ferrara, Piacenza, Ravenna, and in the role of Conte di Vaudemont (I Vespri siciliani) in Busseto and Ravenna with the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini.

Lorenzo Muzzi will soon will sing in I vespri siciliani in Busseto and Ravenna with Fondazione Arturo Toscanini of Parma, in Adelina at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, and will debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid in La traviata.
