Born in Bergamo, Corrado Rovaris graduated in organ and composition under L. Benedetti and in harpsichord under E. Fadini at the «G. Verdi» Conservatory of Milan.

From 1992 to 1996 he has been assistant of the Chorus Master of the Teatro alla Scala.

He started his career concentrating on the baroque repertoire (Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Galuppi, Händel), and subsequently on Mozart, Haydn, Myslivecek, Paisiello, Donizetti, Rossini, Bizet and Humperdinck.

As conductor he made his debut in Il filosofo di campagna by Galuppi, in a production by the As.Li.Co., re-staged in several Italian theatres and at the Teatro Comunale di Firenze. He subsequently had the chance to conduct at the Serate Musicali in Milan, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro Regio di Parma, the Teatro Regio di Torino, the Arena di Verona, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Teatro Lauro Rossi in Macerata, the Festival delle Nazioni of Città di Castello, the Festival of Cremona and the Praga Europa Musica 1995.

For what his concert activity is concerned, Corrado Rovaris appeared with success on the podium of the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie Orchestra of Brussels (works by Mozart, Puccini and Verdi with Luciana Serra), the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra (Mozart, Haydn), the Teatro Carlo Felice Orchestra of Genova (Mozart, Paganini), I Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra of Milan (Mozart, Beethoven), I Cameristi della Scala (works by Mozart), the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano (Mozart, Haydn), the Accademia I Filarmonici Orchestra of Verona (Mozart, Rossini, Haydn), the Teatro Comunale di Bologna Orchestra and the Orchestra Sinfonica Arturo Toscanini (Fauré, Mozart).

In the 1997/8 season he conducted Händel's Il Tamerlano at the Teatro Regio di Torino, Le nozze di Figaro in Brescia and Bergamo with As.Li.Co., Il campanello and Betly by Donizetti at the Teatro Comunale di Modena, Don Giovanni with the As.Li.Co in Köln and on tour in France and Italy and Apollo e Dafne at the Cremona Festival.

Following the great success of his 1997 debut at the Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro in Il Signor Bruschino, Corrado Rovaris was invited to inaugurate the 1998 season of the Rossini Festival conducting in Otello.

In 1998/9 season he met with enthusiastic approvals conducting Il turco in Italia at the Teatro Regio di Parma, La serva padrona in Florence, Il barbiere di Siviglia in Cagliari, Dido and Aeneas at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and two symphonic concerts with I Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra and with the Orchestra dell?Accademia Filarmonica della Scala.

In 1999/2000 season he returned to Verona for Don Giovanni, made his debut at the Opera Company in Philadelphia in Le nozze di Figaro, conducted La cambiale di matrimonio at the Opéra de Lyon, Luisa Miller and Rigoletto al Théâtre Municipal de Lausanne, Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Oper Frankfurt, Il signor Bruschino at the Teatro alla Scala.

2000/1 brought him on the podium of the Teatro Regio di Torino for Il barbiere di Siviglia, of the Teatro Valli di Reggio Emilia for L'elisir d'amore, again to Lausanne for Luisa Miller and to Garsington Opera Festival for La Gazzetta. Corrado Rovaris has recently led Così fan tutte in Trento, Rovigo and Bolzano, Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Don Giovanni and La traviata at the Opera Company in Philadelphia, Don Pasquale at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, L'elisir d'amore at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Un giorno di regno and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro alla Scala, where he will return to conduct L?italiana in Algeri.

His future engagements also include L'elisir d'amore at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Così fan tutte at the Teatro Regio di Torino, La Bohème at the Théâtre Municipal de Lausanne. Corrado Rovaris will return to the Opera Company of Philadelphia to led Don Pasquale, Aida, La clemenza di Tito, La Cenerentola, Nabucco and Le nozze di Figaro.
