Stuart Skelton is emerging as the promising lyric heldentenor of his generation with performances on leading concert and operatic stages spanning from his native Australia to Asia, Europe, and North America

Future seasons will see Stuart Skelton sing his first Parsifal, singing the role for Opera Frankfurt under Sebastian Weigle. Stuart makes return appearances with the Vienna Staatsoper as Erik in Der Fliegende Holländer and the Deutsche Staatsoper unter den Linden with Mo.Barenboim to sing Florestan in Fidelio. During the 2003/4 seasons this busy tenor will add Dallapiccola's ll Prigioniero, the Kaiser in Die Frau Ohne Schatten and Grimes in Peter Grimes to his repertoire at Oper Frankfurt, King Arthur in Albeniz´ Merlin with Teatro Real Madrid, Siegmund in his first Die Walküre at the State Opera of South Australia´s new production of The Ring. and also makes his Deutsche Oper Berlin debut as Erik. Concert engagements include his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Mo. Zubin Mehta.

During the 2001-02 season Stuart Skelton made his debut at the Vienna Staatsoper in Fidelio as well as his Deutsche Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin debut in Der Fliegende Holländer and in the title role of Lohengrin, both conducted by Daniel Barenboim.Stuart also made his house debut with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna to great acclaim, appearing as Lohengrin under Daniele Gatti. He also bowed in the title role of Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex for Opera North, Don José in Carmen with Opera Australia, Florestan in Fidelio for Staatstheater Stuttgart, Narraboth in Salome and the title role of Lohengrin with Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

Concert engagements of the present season include performances of Beethoven's Symphony No.9 with Kazushi Ono and the Tokyo National Orchestra, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Gianluigi Gelmetti, Mahler's Symphony No. 8 with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Strasbourg as well as at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus under Mo.Michael Gielen, and concert performances of the title role of Rienzi at the Staatstheater Stuttgart .

Highlights of recent seasons have included performances of Stravinsky's Pulcinella with the Sydney Symphony, Narraboth in Salome at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, Cavaradossi in Tosca with both the State Opera of South Australia and the Bregenzer Festspiel winter season, and Erik in Der Fliegende Holländer at the Opera National du Rhin. While participating in the Merola Program and as a member of the prestigious Adler Fellowship, Stuart Skelton appeared in Arabella and Lohengrin with Donald Runnicles at San Francisco Opera.

After beginning his training in Australia, Stuart Skelton received his Master of Music Degree from the University of Cincinnati and went on to win the 16th International Belvedere Hans-Gabor Singing Competition in Vienna as well as Australia's two largest and most esteemed vocal prizes in the Marianne Mathy Scholarship and the McDonald's Aria Competition. He has also been awarded a Sullivan Foundation Grant and was the recipient of the Robert Lauch Memorial Grant from the Wagner Society of New York.@ @
