Winner of the XXI As.Li.Co. Competition, the XXVI Teatro alla Scala Competition, and the «Voci Verdiane» Competiotion of the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, he made his debut in Rigoletto at the Teatro Grande di Brescia.

His particular attitude towards the performances of character, brings him to prefer a repertoire that includes I pagliacci (Arlecchino), Madama Butterfly (Goro), La traviata (Gastone), Falstaff (Cajus, Bardolfo), Carmen (Remendado), Manon Lescaut (Edmondo), Lucia di Lammermoor (Arturo), Francesca da Rimini (Malatestino), Il compleanno dell?infanta, Turandot (Pang, Pong), Adriana Lecouvreur (Abate di Chazeuil), Andrea Chénier (Incredibile), Il convitato di pietra, La vedova scaltra, I quattro rusteghi (Riccardo), Bastiano e Bastiana, La danza delle libellule, Il pipistrello (Blind), La vedova allegra, and La Bajadera.

He also performed in La cenerentola, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Il turco in Italia, La rondine, Don Pasquale, L'elisir d'amore, La sonnambula, Angélique, and Evgenij Onegin (Lenskij), Ariadne auf Naxos (Maestro di ballo), and Orfeo all?inferno (Aristeo, Plutone).

Present in the most important Italian and foreign theatres (Bologna, Venice, Naples, Trieste, Turin, Rome, Palermo, Verona, Cagliari, Maggio Musicale di Firenze, Nice, Toulouse, Innsbruck), he is regularly invited to International Festivals such as the Glyndebourne Opera Festival, the Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto and the Salzburg Festspiele.

In 1992 he was awarded the «Abbiati» prize by the Italian criticism.

During recent seasons he sang La Bohème (Alcindoro, Benoit) at the New Israeli Opera, Il pipistrello (Alfred) in Palermo, Il campiello in Bologna, Eva in Napoli, Gurlit's Wozzeck in Florence, Die lustige Witwe in Palermo and Cagliari and Ariadne auf Naxos in Lausanne.

In 1999 he returned to Bologna and Modena for Die lustige Witwe and to Trieste for Les dialogues des Carmélites and Turandot, and he performed in Orphée aux enfers at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo.

2000 brought him on the stage of the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova for Fedora, to the Teatro Regio di Torino and to Novara for Orphée aux enfers, and to the Maggio Musicale di Firenze and in Klagenfurt for Triquet in Evgenij Onegin, a role he has subsequently revisited at and at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

Max René Cosotti has recently returned to Klagenfurt to perform as Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro and to the Teatro Massimo di Palermo for Die Zauberflöte, performed in Il Campiello at the Japan Opera Foundation, in L'incoronazione di Poppea and Manon Lescaut at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and at the Teatro Valli di Reggio Emilia, in Die lustige Witwe at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and Manon Lescaut at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. At the Teatro Verdi di Trieste she sang in Cavallino bianco and in the role of Schmidt in Werther.

Future engagements include Francesca da Rimini at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Orfeo all'inferno (Plutone) at the Teatro Regio di Torino, Duchessa di Chicago at Teatro Verdi di Trieste, and Lucia di Lammermoor and Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali at the Opéra de Montecarlo.
