Igor Morosow, baritone, was born in the Ukraine and studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. His first engagement was a lead baritone at the Kirov (Marinsky-) Theatre in St. Petersburg, then, two years later, at the Bolsoi Theatre in Moscow. In 1991 he was given the "Narodni Artist Rossie", the highest award possible for artists in his country. Since then, he has worked as a free-lance solist at all of Europe's greatest opera houses as well as at many festivals (for example Deutsche Oper Berlin, Deutsche Staatsoper unter den Linden Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Mannheim, Stuttgart, Vienna, Salzburg, Bregenz, Budapest, Palermo, Milan, Zurich, St. Gallen, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Dublin, Houston Grand Opera, Boston Festival, Ljubljana Festival).

His performances have included "Eugen Onegin" (very successful debut in Vienna in 1991), "Rigoletto", "Simone Boccanegra", "Luisa Miller", "La Traviata", "Un Ballo in Maschera", "Pagliacci", "Cavalleria Rusticana", "Beatrice di Tenda", "Otello", "Anna Bolena", "Don Carlo", "War and Peace", "Songs and Dances of Death", "Michelangelo-Suite". 2000 Igor Morosow gave his debut as Miller in Prof. Götz Friedrich's second last production at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he also sang "Anna Bolena" with Lucia Aliberti (spring 2001). At St. Gallen he sang in 2001 his very successful debut as 'Simon Boccanegra' (director: Joël Lauwers/conductor:Laurent Wagner), Rigoletto at the Ljubljana-Festival, Verdi-Gala with the Stuttgarter Philharmonikern and Maestro Ivan Anguelov.

"Luisa Miller" with Larin Maazel as concert at "La Scala di Milano" and in Valencia (with B. Frittoli, V. La Scola, L. Polgar and Arutiun Kotschinjan). "Parnok" in the first performance of "Schwarzerde" by Klaus Huber in Basel (Director: Klaus Guth).

In 2002 Igor Morosow received the tilte "Knight of St. Georges" by the International Academy of Arts and Science "Golden Fortune".

Debut as "Jago" in Otello at the open-air festival at St. Margarethen/Austria (Director: Prof. Robert Herzl, Conductor: Anton Guadagno). "Rigoletto" in Thessaloniki (Director: Paul-Emile Fourny/Joel Lauwers, Conductor: N. Athinaios).

2003: "Simone Boccanegra" in Zagreb. Debut as "Francesco" in "Mona Lisa" by Max von Schillings in St. Gall (Director: J. Peters-Messer), concerts with Swiss Concert (Russian Songs) and "Dichterliebe" by R. Schumann. "Baby Yar", the 13th Symphony by Shostakovitch in St. Gall (Conductor: Jiri Kout). "La Traviata" in Basle.

2004/2005 Debut as "Kovalyov" in "The Nose" by Shostakovitch (Director: R. Schuster, Conductor: J. Henneberger). "Otello" in Graz. Debut as "Amonasro" in "Aida" at the open air festival in St. Margarethen/Austria (Director: R. Herzl, Conductor: Prof. Märzendorfer). Mozart-Gala in Berlin with R. Saccà , Eva Lind and M. Ehrenfried, "Rigoletto" in Wiesbaden. 'Aida' in Erfurt.

2005/2006: "Tosca" in St. Gall, "Rigoletto" in Basle, debut as "Ismailov" in "Lady Macbeth" by Shostakovitch in St. Gall (Conductor: Jiri Kout).

It's Igor's interpretation of Iago's tale and the duet Otello (Janez Lotric)/Iago chosen by Woody Allen for his film 'Match Point'.

2006/2007 he sung Conte di Luna at the Coliseu Theatre in Porto/Portugal and Scarpia ('Tosca') in Stuttgart.

Igor Morosow sung his debut as "Nabucco" in summer 2007 at the St.Margarethen -Opera-Festival in Austria (Stage director: Prof. Robert Herzl, conductor: Prof. E.Märzendorfer).

During the season 2007/08 Igor Morosow sang several concerts in Germany (especially in Berlin) and Switzerland as well as a whole production of "Rigoletto" at the operahouse in Aachen/Germany. Due to a great success this production was overtaken to the season 2008/09. Igor Morosow sang the role of Miller in Verdi's "Luisa Miller" in Weimar in 2008. In 2009 Igor Morosow sings many concerts in Switzerland, Southern Germany and Southern France, especially together with the quartett "Scherzo" (www.scherzo.ch) who plays classical and operatic music on traditional Russian folk instruments. He also participates at the "Musical summer around the lake of Zurich" with an Ukrainian-italian opera-gala (together with Gabriella Morigi).

In 2010 Igor Morosow will sing many concerts in different countries of Europe (Southern France, Belgium, Luxembourg,Germany), one of them will be the first performance of the cycle "Uskaya lyra" by Arthur Lourié at the Lourié festival in Basel and another will be an opera gala with the soprano Galyna Gavrylko and the pianist Alexey Botvinov in Bern.
