The Italian conductor was just elected general music director of the City Theater of Munster from the season 07/08. Lately, he was in the same position at the Istanbul State Opera.
Fabrizio Ventura conducts renowned orchestras such as the Radio Orchestra of Munich, Leipzig (MDR), Kaiserlautern (SWR), the Stuttgart State Orchestra, The Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra Munich, the Philharmonic Orchestra Rostock, the Philharmonic State Orchestra Halle, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the European Community Youth Orchestra, the Residence Orchestra Den Hague and many others.
The artist was in charge of various opera productions: at the Royal Opera Houses of Stockholm and Copenhagen , the Vienna Opera, the Prague State Opera, the Rome Opera, the Verdi Theatre Trieste, the Opera House Graz, in Portugal, Denmark, the Netherlands, England, Turkey and Switzerland.
In the summer of 2002 he made his successful debut at the Australian Opera Sydney, where he had the musical direction of LA BOHÈME. 2005 he attracted special attention with a new production of Lady Macbeth of Mzensk at the Wiesbaden State Theatre.
In 1979 Fabrizio Ventura graduated at the Conservatory Frosinone as a pianist. He studied composition at the Conservatory 'Santa Cecilia' in Rome from 1977 until 1981. In 1985 he graduated as conductor ( in the class of Professor Karl Österreicher) at the Conservatory in Vienna.
From 1989 until 1994, the conductor who was born in Rome, was the musical director at the Theatre Biel/Bienne in Switzerland and from 1994 until 1998 he was First Kapellmeister at the Brunswick State Theatre. This position he also had at the Nuremberg State Theatre from 1998 until 2002. As a guest conductor, he continues directing here. He made a big impression with the world premiere of the opera 'Wolkenstein' from Hiller, a production he also conducted in a guest performance in Bolzano. From 2002 until 2004, he was the general musical director of the South Thuringia State Theatre Meiningen.
At the occasion of the opening of the Wiesbaden May Festival, he has the musical direction of the new production 'Tiefland' from Eugen d'Albert.
