has been a member of the Opera House Bremen since August 2002,where he already could be enjoyed as VATER CAPULET in „Romeo et Juliette“ from Gounod and as FÖRSTER in „Sly Little Fox“ from Janacek.
Guest performances took him in the last few years to Bern, Zurich, Klagenfurt, Vienna, Chemnitz, Darmstadt, Sofia, and to Italy and Spain. The Bulgarian baritone is also a regular guest in France, where he sings in the opera houses of Dijon, Nancy, Bordeaux, St. Étiennes, just to name a few, as well as at the Festival of Avignon.
Ivan Dimitrov began taking singing lessons during his study of piano, and received his diploma in 1984 at the Conservatory of his native town Sofia.
1988 Ivan Dimitrov won the Special Price of the International BELVEDERE Contest in Vienna. The same year, he was one of the finalists at the Luciano Pavarotti Contest in Philhadelphia and won the Prix de Chant d’Opéra at the Jubilee Contest in CIEM/GENEVA.
1990 He received Second Prize at the F.P.NEGLIA Contest in Enna and Mario del Monaco in Marsala.
Ivan Dimitrov has taken master-classes from James King, Armin Appiani and José van Dam.
His successes at the Opera Studio in Zurich led the baritone to Germany, where he was at first a member of the ensemble at Kaiserslautern and later at the Opera Karlsruhe, where his protrayals of Italian roles were especially well-received.
1992 Ivan Dimitrov created the principal role in the world premiere of the opera THE LIFE WITH THE IDIOT from Schnittke in Amsterdam.
His repertoire includes such roles as POSA, NABUCCO, CONTE DI LUNA, GERMONT, DON CARLOS, RENATO in “Ballo in Maschera” ( a role he sang a.o. at the Opera Zuid ), MARCELLO in “La Bohème,” SHARPLESS, SCARPIA and many others.

Depuis aôut 2002 Ivan Dimitrov est membre de l ´ensemble de l ´Opéra de Bremen, où on peut le voir comme PÈRE CAPULET dans „Romeo et Juliette“ de Gounod et comme LE FORESTIER dans „Le Petit Renard rusé“ de Janacek.
Bien que souvent invitée à chanter à travers le monde entier, Ivan Dimitrov vient de chanter les années dernières à Bern, Zurich, Klagenfurt, à l ´Opéra de Chambre de Vienne, à Chemnitz, Darmstadt, Sofia, en Italie et en Espagne. Le baryton bulgare est également un invité régulier en France, où on peut l' entendre e.a. à Dijon, Nancy, Bordeaux, St-Étiennes, ainsi qu´au Festival d ´Avignon.
Pendant ses études de piano, qu' il achève avec diplôme en 1984, le baryton commence ses études de chant au Conservatoire de sa ville natale Sofia.
En 1988, Ivan Dimitrov recoit le Prix Spécial du Concours International BELVEDERE à Vienne. La même année, il est finaliste au Concours Luciano Pavarotti à Philadelphia et en 1989 il gagne le Prix de Chant d´Opéra au Concours Jubilé de CIEM/GENÈVE.
Au Concours F.P. NEGLIA à Enna et Mario del Monaco à Marsala en 1990, il recoit le deuxième prix .
Le baryton achève des cours de maîtrise chez James King, Armin Appiani et José van Dam.
Par le Studio de l ´Opéra de Zurich, Ivan Dimitrov vient en Allemagne, où il est d’abord engagé à Kaiserslautern et plus tard à l ´Opéra de l ´État de Karlsruhe. Ici, il est surtout notable dans les parties italiennes.
En 1992, Ivan Dimitrov joue dans la première mondiale de l´opéra DAS LEBEN MIT DEM IDIOTEN de Schnittke.
Le répertoire de Ivan Dimitrov contient des parties comme POSA, NABUCCO, CONTE DI LUNA, GERMONT, DON CARLOS, RENATO dans « Ballo in maschera » (une rôle, qu´il chANTE e.a. au printemps à l ´Opera Zuid), MARCELLO dans « La Bohème », SHARPLESS, SCARPIA et beaucoup d´autres.
