Teliga Alexander
basso

'However the gentlemen were the true winners this evening. Scala bass singer Alexander Teliga sang a fabulous King. His volume and his vocal force reminded me of Burchaladze at his best.'
Der Neue Merker
International guest appearances already took him to the Royal Opera Copenhagen, the Leipzig Opera, the Dortmund Opera, the Gran Teatro La Fenice, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, to Dublin, Tokyo, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden, the USA and Canada, to the Philharmonic Orchestras of Madrid and Odense, to the Wexford Festival, the Festival St. Margarethen, the Carcassone Opera Festival in France, the Fiodor Szalapin Festival and in 2005 to the International Chiemgau Festival, where he charmed both the audience and the press as SCARPIA in Tosca.

With the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, he recently had a huge succes performing Rachmaninoff’s ‘The Bells’ under the musical direction of M. Jurowski. Some smaler roles in Pique Dame, Cerivichki and Eugen Onegin took Alexander to the Scala di Milano.
After finishing his studies at the Music Academy in Lvov, the Polish bass singer performed in all the renowned opera houses in his native country and is still a regular guest of the Warsaw State Opera.
Some of the bass singer’s most important parts include ZACCARIA in Verdi’s Nabucco , BANCO in Macbeth, RAMFIS and the KING in Aida, the GRAND INQUISITOR and FILIPO in Don Carlo, OROVESO in Norma, MEFISTOFELE, BORIS and PIMEN in Boris Godunov, GREMIN in Eugen Onegin, VARIAZSKY VISITOR in Sadko, but also SCARPIA in Tosca or ESCAMILLO in Carmen.
Alexander Teliga has recorded many CD’s, among them the „Parade of Stars” with the Festival Symphony Orchestra Toronto, Canada. In a total recording of „Schwanda der Dudelsackpfeifer” from Jaromir Weinberger in 2005 he sings the ‘Devil’. Moreover, there are DVDs of "Aida" by G. Verdi, ( Giorgio Croci with the Orchestra Stagione d'Opera Italiana conducting), as well as "Nabucco" (Michael Lessky with the Young Philharmonic Orchestra Vienna conducting).
As ZACCARIA in Nabucco the symphathetic bass singer is particularly in demand. –The press wrote about his performance: ‘...satte Schwärze und profunde Höhe, dazu stimmig im Ausdruck und Habitus der Zaccaria von Alexander Teliga.' He already sang the Hebrew High Priest at the Palacio de Belas Artes Mexico, in Dortmund and in concerts in Bielefeld.
Among his latest interpretations Alexander Teliga counts GURNEMANZ in Warsaw, the GRAND INQUISITOR in Dublin, SURIN in „Pique Dame“ in Bologna, as well as the GENERAL in Prokofieff’s ‘The Player’ in Lyon. 2010 he will sing a.o. Boris Godunow at the Munster Opera House.
