Born in Venice, after completing his musical studies, he won the As.Li.Co. International Competition in Milan. There, he made his debut as Albert in Werther under the baton of Daniele Gatti.

Since 1987 he has begun a brillant career, having sung in the major Italian and European Opera houses: Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Comunale di Firenze, Teatro Regio di Parma, Opéra de Marseille, Théâtre du Chatelet de Paris, Opéra de Nancy, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Semperoper of Dresden.

His vast repertoire includes La Bohème (Marcello and Schaunard), Don Giovanni (Masetto and Leporello), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Figaro), L'elisir d'amore (Belcore), Linda di Chamounix (Il Marchese di Boisfleury), Così fan tutte (Guglielmo), Werther (Albert), Turandot (Ping), L'italiana in Algeri (Haly), Le nozze di Figaro (Figaro), Manon, Madama Butterfly (Sharpless), Fedora (De Siriex), Rota?s Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, Don Pasquale (Malatesta), Dinorah (Hoel), Carmen (Il Dancairo), Roméo et Juliette (Capulet), La fille du regiment (Sulpice), as well as Händel's Agrippina and Orff's Carmina Burana.

During his career Fabio Previati worked with such conductors as Bruno Campanella, Daniele Gatti, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Peter Maag, Daniel Oren, Evelino Pidò, Donato Renzetti and Christian Thielemann.

Recent seasons' highlights include the appearances in Seville in L'italiana in Algeri, in Sao Paolo (Brazil) in La Cenerentola (led by John Neschling), the performance of Turandot on a tour to China with the Teatro Comunale di Firenze under the baton of Zubin Mehta (1998) and of Vita nuova with the Bayerischer Rundfunkorchester. 1999/2000 season brought him again to Germany for Il barbiere di Siviglia (Dresdner Mai Musikfestspiele), Poulenc?s Stabat Mater (in Munich with the Bayerische Rundfunk Orchester), as well as in Verona to sing in La forza del destino. In 2000/1 season Fabio Previati sang La Bohème at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, at the Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (under the baton of Daniel Oren and directed by Jonathan Miller) and at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Turandot on a Japan with the Teatro Comunale Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli. He has recently made his debut at the Opéra de Rennes, singing the role of Giorgio Germont in La traviata, has returned to the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli to sing as Ping in Turandot and has just premiered Le convenienze e inconvenienze teatrali at the Politeama Greco in Lecce. Fabio Previati experienced a great success with his recent debuts at the Teatro Comunale di Modena and at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara in La Bohème and the interpretation of La forza del destino at the Teatro Regio di Parma, followed by a new portraying of Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in Padova with the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Margherita d'Anjou (Michele Gamautte) in London for Opera Rara, Il campanello at the Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo and a tour to Bergamo, Modena, Lucca and Messina of Il fantasma nella cabina (world première).

His discography includes recordings of Rossini's L'occasione fa il ladro, L?inganno felice and La scala di seta.
