| She was born in Poznan. Initially, she studied in the class of violin and piano, and later also in the vocal class. Still during her studies in the Academy of Music in Poznan, she was awarded the first prize in the International Vocal Competition Benson and Hadges in London in 1984. Just a year later, she won the award in the International Vocal Competition in Rio de Janeiro. She performs mainly in opera houses in Western Europe: Teatro alla Scala in Milano, Covent Garden in London, Staatsoper in Wien, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Teatro La Fenice in Venezia, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper in Muenchen, Staatsoper in Hamburg, Grand Théatre in Geneve, Théatre Royal de la Monnaie in Bruxelles, Teatro Comunale in Firenze, Opernhaus Zürich, Los Angeles Music Center in Los Angeles, BAM in New York and in many other cities in Europe and America. The artist made herself famous for her performances in Mozart's operas (conduct of the voice, vocal culture, inborn gift for acting). She is also highly prized for her roles in operas by Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovski, etc. She colaborated with Lorin Maazel (Paris, La Scala, Ravenna Festival), Riccardo Muti (La Scala), Nello Santi (Zürich), David Zinman (San Francisco, Zürich), James Conlon (Köln), Jaffrey Tate (Berlin, Minneapolis), Giorgio Strehler (Paris, La Scala). |
