Renowned around the world as one of the best interpreters of the main Rossini?s and Mozart's roles, Natale De Carolis debuted at the Teatro alla Scala in the opening night of the 1987/8 season in Don Giovanni with Riccardo Muti (recorded for Emi). Important debuts followed in many renowned theatres and productions: in 1988, his U.S. debut at the Metropolitan Opera in the title role of Le nozze di Figaro; in 1991, his first performance at Sidney Opera in Don Giovanni, where he returned in 1994 as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.

From then on, Natale De Carolis has enjoyed a brilliant career throughout Europe, the Americas, Israel and Australia, collaborating with important conductors and stage directors.

Recent seasons' highlights of Natale De Carolis include successful interpretations of Così fan tutte at the Michigan Opera of Detroit, at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, at the Salzburger Festspiele and at the Royal Opera House-Covent Garden in London, as well as the recent debut at Staatsoper unter den Linden in Berlin in L'elisir d'amore (Dottor Dulcamara), under the baton of Daniele Callegari, and the portraying of Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola and Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo. At the New National Theatre in Tokyo, he was invited to perform in Manon, Don Giovanni, Werther and L'elisir d'amore. In 1999/2000 season he sang L'elisir d'amore at the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, La Bohème (Schaunard) at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Don Giovanni at the New National Theatre in Tokyo and in Glyndebourne, this last recently performed in Tel Aviv and at the Teatro dell?Opera di Roma.

Natale De Carolis's future engagements include Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni) at the Michigan Theatre in Detroit, La Bohème (Schaunard) at the Teatro alla Scala, at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Il matrimonio segreto at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and again Don Giovanni, in the role of Leporello, with the Settimane Musicali di Stresa, under the baton of Noseda.

His career was marked by successful interpretations of Le nozze di Figaro (Figaro; Metropolitan Opera with James Levine; Zurich with Nikolaus Harnoncourt; Teatro alla Scala under the baton of Riccardo Muti; Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and Wiener Staatsoper), La Cenerentola (Don Magnifico; Carnegie Hall), Händel's Rinaldo (Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and Madrid), Mozart's Requiem (Teatro La Fenice di Venezia), Britten's Il ratto di Lucrezia (Teatro San Carlo di Napoli), Don Giovanni (in the role of Leporello at the Teatro Comunale di Firenze with the conducting of Zubin Mehta, at the Metropolitan Opera with James Levine, and at the Wiener Staatsoper; in the title role in Frankfurt, Sylvain Cambreling, conductor; in Sidney and Lisbon), Così fan tutte (Guglielmo; Teatro Comunale di Firenze with Zubin Mehta, Glyndebourne Festival and Sidney), Tancredi (Teatro Comunale di Bologna), L'occasione fa il ladro (Köln), L'elisir d'amore (Dulcamara at the Wiener Staatsoper; the role of Belcore at the Royal Opera House-Covent Garden), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires, staged by Hugo de Ana), Il matrimonio segreto (Conte Robinson; Bilbao), La gazza ladra (Fernando; Teatro La Fenice).

Natale De Carolis made his professional debut in 1983 at the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto «A.Belli» in the role of Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia. He returned to the Sperimentale in the three following seasons, singing as Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore and the title roles of Don Pasquale and Le nozze di Figaro.

Natale De Carolis began his studies with Renato Guelfi and completed them with Maria Vittoria Romano. He was the first prize winner of the «Toti Dal Monte» Competition of Treviso.
