| Born in Monfalcone, Enrico Cossutta made his debut in Viterbo in 1985 singing Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia. He began his career performing the roles of Arbace in Ciro di Babilonia, Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor, Valerio in Cimarosa's Il fanatico burlato and Contino del fiore in Ricci's Crispino e la comare in Savona, followed by his successful appearances at the Teatro alla Scala in La traviata (Gastone), Idomeneo, Le comte Ory and, more recently, in Manon Lescaut (under the baton of Lorin Maazel), La fanciulla del West and La traviata with Sinopoli and Muti. |
| After several further performances of La traviata (in Cagliari, Savona, Treviso, Rovigo, Modena, Ferrara, Sevilla and Genoa), Enrico Cossutta sang in such operas as Lucia di Lammermoor in Rovigo, Treviso and Turin, Mosè, Werther and L?amico Fritz in Naples, Ricciardo e Zoraide in Pesaro, Tosca, Carmen and La gazza ladra in Venice, as well as in Don Carlo and Don Sebastiano in Bologna. Abroad, he appeared in Stuttgart in Les Danaides by Salieri and in Lugano with Soliva's Testa di bronzo (Federico). |
| In 1999/2000 season Enrico Cossutta obtained great success performing in Tosca for the season opening of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, sang Tristan und Isolde and Pique Dame in Florence, returned to Naples for La traviata and to Venice for Maria di Rohan, Sadko and Madama Butterfly. |
| More recently, he appeared in La traviata, La fanciulla del West, Simon Boccanegra and Manon Lescaut in Florence, Lucia di Lammermoor in Cagliari, Ernani in Ravenna and Livorno, as well as in Stiffelio at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Il trovatore at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Rigoletto at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, La traviata again at the Teatro alla Scala, in Tokyo, and on a Japan tour of the Teatro La Fenice. He has just returned to the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari to perform as Goro in Madama Butterfly and made his debut at the Opernhaus in Zurich with Tosca. |
| Highlights of his future engagements include Rigoletto at the Teatro Comunale di Firenze, Adriana Lecouvreur at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, and Otello and Turandot at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. |
