Opening the 2002/03 season, soprano Eva Jenis gives her debut at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux as Donna Anna in a new production of 'Don Giovanni', followed by performances at the opera houses of Caen and Rouen. She sings Marie in Smetana's 'The bartered bride' at the Teatro Guiseppe Verdi Trieste as well as in a guest performance of the National Theatre Prague at the Grosses Festspielhaus Salzburg. Furthermore, she can be heard at the Opéra National de Paris in revival of Manoury's 'K...' (after Kafka's TheTrial). Top-class concert obligations lead her to the Santa Cecilia Roma (Beethoven's Symphony N° 9 under Myung-Whun Chung) and to the Norddeutsche Rundfunk Hamburg (Bruckner's f-moll-Mass under Herbert Blomstedt). |
In June 2001 Eva Jenis was awarded with the GRAMMY in the category 'Best Opera Production' for her participation in the CD-recording (Erato) of Busoni's 'Doktor Faust', which she again sang in the opera's Japanese premiere with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in February 2002. Other engagements in 2001/02 included a new production at the Opéra de Nancy (Violetta in 'La Traviata'), where she gave her debut in the title role of Jenufa in June 2002 at the Opéra de Nancy. @ @Eva Jenis sang at the Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Oper Frankfurt, De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, Opernhaus Zürich, Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio Torino, Teatro Comunale Bologna, Teatro Real Madrid, Théâtre Châtelet Paris, Opéra National de Lyon, Teatro Colon Buenos Aires and in concerts at the Wiener Musikverein, Grosses Festspielhaus Salzburg, Bruckner House Linz, Philharmonie München, Gewandhaus Leipzig and the Salle Pleyel Paris. She worked with important orchestras like the Wiener Symphoniker, the RSO Wien, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Genève and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and with well-known conductors like Aldo Ceccato, Charles Dutoit, Daniele Gatti, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Marek Janowski, Fabio Luisi, Sir Charles Mackerras and Ulf Schirmer. |
Eva Jenis was born in Slovakia, studied at the Bratislava Conservatory and was engaged as a soloist at the Slovakian National Theatre Bratislava, with which she appeared in guest performances at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, the Hungarian State Opera Budapest, the Israel Festival and Edinburgh Festival and the opera houses of Manchester and Leeds. She also sang at the New Zealand Festival, the Festival Santander, the Festival de Musica de Canarias and the opera houses of Bilbao and Oviedo. |
