It is with the great baritone-rôles of Verdi, Puccini and Verismo, such as Nabucco, Rigoletto, Carlos (Ernani), Renato, Germont, Marcello, Sharpless, Tonio, Alfio that the Vienna Kammersänger, Georg Tichy is a regular guest on international stages in Europa and oversea, f.e. at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelone, the Scala di Milano, the Teatro Real Madrid, the Teatro Colón Buenos @Aires, the National Opera Munich, the Hamburgische Staatsoper, the Covent Garden Opera House London; in Palermo, San Diego, Bordeaux, Athens, Stuttgart , Prag, Stockholm as well as at the Salzburg Festival, the Bregenz Festival and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. |
Various CD-recordings, television- and broadcasting productions document the versatility of this baritone, who was born in Vienna. Under the label ARTE NOVA @CLASSICS a recording of the entire "La Traviata" was released, as well as a complete version of "Rigoletto". A recording of his Sharpless in "Madame Butterfly" , Dr. Falke in "Die Fledermaus" and Papageno in "Die Zauberflöte" also appeared on CD as well as a cutting of the Bregenz Festival. Furthermore, Georg Tichy appeared in a TV-production of the Vienna State Opera from @"Maskenball", "Lohengrin", "Manon" as well as "Der Barbier von Sevilla" on the belgian television. |
Georg Tichy, a prize-winner in various international song-contests, a.o. in Athens, in Villa-Manin (Italy) and in Bratislava (TIJI), also frequently performs in concerts. Beside his concert-engagements with renowned orchestras, Georg Tichy mainly performs as a Lieder Singer. Very soon, he became famous as an interpreter of Mahler- and Schubert Lieder. A CD of the Lieder-Cycle "Schwanegesang" was released under the label Aricord. |
