Gabriela was born in sofia, Bulgaria. Her interest in music became apparent at an early age; by the age of 11 she was a member of the National Radio and Television Choir Bodra Smyana. She continued her musical studies at 14 in Havana Cuba and four years later returned to Bulgaria to study with renowned teacher Rada Gaeva. In 1989, upon her return to Cuba Gabriela enrolled in the Superior Art Instituts of Havana with major in voice where she studied with Maria Eulenia Barrios. In 1993, she visited Mexico City to participate in master classes with Margaarita Horruitinier and lieder classes with Thomas Tomaschke. In 1992, Gabriela makes her debut in Grand Opera of Havana with Nedda from Pagliacci and later on Margarite from Faust in a concert version. She made several recordings for Cuban television in 1993. In December of 1993, Gabriela graduated from the Superior Art Institue of Havana and returned to Mexico City to attend master classes at tha National School of Music with Edith Bustos. She won the first prize in Mexico City round of Placido Domingo's International Competition Operalia in 1994. This same year, she was awarded an opera scholarshipo to the University of Southern Mississippi, where she presently studied with Professor Jay Dean and voice teacher Dr. Vivian Wood. There she had the opportunity to performe several concerts and the role of Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni, Mozart). Gabriela Palikruscheva was a member of the International Opernstudio in Zürich, Switzerland for the year 1995-1998 under the direction of Marc Belfort. In 1998 she won the Ranieri e Cestelli Opera Competition and performing in Deutsche Oper Berlin and Hamburg Staatsoper. She sang with conductors such a Stefa Sotesz, Paolo Olmi, Marcelo viotti, Franz Welser-Möst, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos. |
