| Born in Wilmington (USA) in 1968, Enrico Marrucci graduated in Chemistry Engineering and studied singing first in Naples and then in Rome under the guidance of Renato Federighi.@In July 1995 he performed in the role of Papageno in Die Zauberflöte at the New Opera Festival in Rome and in 1996 he made his debut at the Teatro Nuovo di Spoleto as Ford in Falstaff. In the same year he was the winner of the 50th Edition of the Concorso per Giovani Cantanti Lirici di Spoleto and took part in the first edition of Baggiani's Perso Per Perso and in L'inganno felice (Batone) under the baton of Enrique Mazzola. |
| In 1997 Enrico Marrucci won the Singing International Competition of Budapest thanks to his interpretation of Falstaff and sang as Ford and in several concerts at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona. In April he portrayed the role of Malatesta in Don Pasquale at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina, conducted by Carminati and directed by Enzo Dara. In the same period he performed as Valentin in Faust and as Germont in La traviata at the Teatro Sperimentale di Spoleto, and took part in the world première of Il Genio dell'armonia by Donizetti for the opening of the dell'Accademia Filarmonica Romana, under the baton of Pidò (in collaboration with the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma). At the Festival RomaEuropa in Villa Medici he sang in the première of Machuel's Mefistofele and in La Damnation de Faust by Berlioz, and at the Teatro Giglio di Lucca he was Rambaldo in Puccini's La rondine. |
| In February 1998 Enrico Marrucci portrayed the role of Marcello in La Bohème opposite Raina Kabaivanska, followed by Malatesta in Don Pasquale at the Teatro Regio di Torino and again La Bohème in the theatres of Lucca, Pisa and Livorno. 1998/9 season was marked by the performances in Falstaff (Ford) at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova (with Ruggero Raimondi and under the baton of Carella) and by the new production of Prova di un'opera seria (Maestro Campanone) at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. |
| In 1999/2000 season he performed in Die Zauberflöte (Papageno) in Jesi, Livorno, Lucca, Pisa and Ravenna, Werther (Albert) at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Die Fledermaus (Falke) at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste. Again in 2000 he sang as John Plake in the Teatro Regio di Torino production of Sly, sharing the stage with Josè Carreras, and he made his successful debut in the roles of I Quattro Villani in Les Contes d'Hoffmann in Livorno, Lucca, Pisa, Ravenna and Modena. |
| 2001 brought him to the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova for Andrea Chénier, to the Festival di Vigoleno in a Fondazione Arturo Toscanini production of Il Trovatore (Conte di Luna), to the Teatro Regio di Torino to sing as Silvio in I Pagliacci. He also performed as Dottor Malatesta in Don Pasquale at the Donizetti Festival di Bergamo and as Sir Riccardo in I Puritani in Trieste. |
| In the past year he sang in the role of Silvio in I Pagliacci at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, in Don Pasquale at the Teatro Calderon in Valladolid, Belcore in L'elisir d'amore at the Macerata Opera Festival and Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro delle Muse di Ancona. |
