Boiko Zvetanov was born 1955 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He is the son of a pilot in the Bulgarian Airlines Balkan. His father was a great music lover and played the guitar as well as the mandolin and founded a string orchestra. He also influenced his son's studies in music and singing very much. He went to the opera when he was a child and took part in various children's choirs singing as a soloist. In this way his desire to become an opera singer began to take form. Boiko Zvetanov completed his studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Music in Sofia. His lecturer was prof. Hadjiev. He was a soloist at the National Opera in Sofia from 1982 to 1990. Boiko Zvetanov studied at the Bulgarian Academy for Art and Culture in Rome in 1988 with Maestro Boris Christoff. In 1989 he continued his studies in Vienna with the chamber singer Margarita Lilova at the Vienna State Opera and with prof. G. Lehmann. There he was given the position of soloist at Opera House Zuirch by the present Opera House director Alexander Pereira. In the winter semester 1994/95, Boiko Zvetanov spent some time studying with the famous tenor and singing padagogue Carlo Bergonzi at the Verdi-Academy in Busseto. Boiko Zvetanov is an award-winner of the International Song Competition in Sofia and Bilbao 1988. A CD with opera arias appeared in 1993 and recently 3 other CD's have been released with selections from the Italian Opera. In the past years appeared as a guest at the following places: Moscow, Sofia, Paris, Messina, Prag, Bratislava, Kopenhagen, Mexico, Stockholm, Bilbao, Kairo, Munich, Vienna, Krefeld, Budapest, St. Gallen, Bergen. |
