 The soprano Irene Cerboncini has studied in Genova (Italy) and has obtained her Degree in Licterature and Philosophy with honours in 1990.

In 1987, during her university studies, she has started to study singing at the Accademia di Bel Canto with the tenor Luciano Saldari, and to perform in concerts, focusing her attention on Verdian and Puccinian repertoire.

Main roles in which she made her debut: Tosca (1994/95), Il Trovatore (1995, 2000), Turandot (1997, 2003, 2004), Madama Butterfly (1998, 2003), La Bohème (1999), La Fanciulla del West (2001, 2005), Aida (2000, 2002), Il Tabarro (2002), Fedora (2004).

More recent artistic engagements:
In November 2003 she has performed as TURANDOT at the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genova with Bruno Bartoletti as conductor and Giuliano Montaldo as director for the first Italian performance of Luciano Berio’s end.
In January 2004 she has performed again TURANDOT at the TEATRO ALLA SCALA, with Carlo Rizzi as conductor and Keita Asari as director.
In June 2004 she has returned to the TEATRO ALLA SCALA for the role of FEDORA, with Stefano Ranzani as conductor and Lamberto Puggelli as director.

In April 2005 she returned to the Carlo Felice of Genoa like protagonist of “La Fanciulla del West” directed from Nicola Luisotti; with the scenic direction of Piero Faggioni, earning a great success of public and critic.
Her next artistic engagements will be in May 2005 at the Theatre of Nice for the debut of "Salome" of R. Strauss (french version November 1905) under the direction of Marco Guidarini, and the scenic direction of Jean-Louis Pichon and in a recitals with Orchestra for Sonzogno in the within of the Festival U. Giordano of Baveno, directed from the M° Francesco Maria Colombo.
