| The tenor David Alegret was born in Barcelona. He studied medicine at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona and singing at the Conservatori Superior Municipal Barcelona. He completed his vocal studies at the Music Academy of Basel with a diploma as a soloist. In Basel he studied with the famous bariton Kurt Widmer. The artist was semi-finalist of the 21st International Belvedere Voice Competition in Vienna 2002 and obtained the 1st prize in the National Competition „Fundacio de Caixa“ in Barcelona 2003. The artist started a wide concert activity and sang the tenor parts in Bach´s St Matthew Passion, Bach´s Magnificat, Mozart´s Requiem, the Petite Messe Solennelle of Rossini and the „Missa di gloria“ of Puccini in Cologne, Basel, Barcelona and Vienna. He performed in major cities of Europe with the Capella Reial de Catalunya under Jordi Savall. He debuted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona as Don Zeffirino in Rossini´s „Il viaggio a Reims“. In 2002/03 David Alegret made his operatic debut in Vienna as Soltan Soliman in Mozart´s „Zaide“ at the Vienna Chamber Opera. In 2003/04 the artist was an ensemble member of the Vienna Staatsoper as a scholarship-holder of the International Herbert von Karajan Centrum Vienna. At the Municipal Theatre of Klagenfurt he sang Lindoro in „L´Italiana in Algeri“.At the Opéra de Montpellier he was heard in Respighi´s opera „La campana sommersa“. In August 2004 he performed the part of Conte Libenskof („Il viaggio a Reims“) at the Rossini Festival Pesaro. In the season 2004/05 he performs as Don Ramiro („La Cenerentola“) at the Volksoper Vienna and the Finnish National Opera Helsinki, Don Narciso („Il Turco in Italia“) at Hamburg State Opera, Pong („Turandot“) at The Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and Lindoro („L´Italiana in Algeri“) at the Vienna Staatsoper. Further plans for the season 2005/06 include Libenskof („Il viaggio a Reims“) in Berne and Zeffirino („Il viaggio a Reims“) at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Libenskof („Il viaggio a Reims“) at Opera Oviedo. In the repertoire of David Alegret we can find parts such as Ferrando („Così fan tute“), Don Ottavio („Don Giovanni“), Belmonte („Die Entführung aus dem Serail“), Idamante („Idomeneo“), Conte Almaviva („Il barbiere di Siviglia“), Don Ramiro („La Cenerentola“), Lindoro („L´Italiana in Algeri“), Don Narciso („Il Turco in Italia“), Libenskof/Cavaliere Belfiore („Il viaggio a Reims“) etc. |
