Mezzo-soprano MARINA DOMASHENKO is in demand at major opera houses and concert series around the world. A native of Russia, she received training at the Kemerovo Institute of Arts (pianist and orchestra conductor), and the Urals State Conservatory (class of opera singing). She won first prizes at two international opera competitions: The International Dvoøák Singing Competition (Czech Republic, 1997) and The First International G. Masini Singing Competition (Italy, 1999). In November 2002 in Philadelphia (USA), Marina Domashenko won the special prize The DIVA. She made her European debut in 1998 in Prague (Olga, Eugene Onegin) and has since enjoyed an international career. She has performed in Italy, USA, Japan, France, Austria, England, Germany, Holland, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Norway and Russia. Her American debut took place at the San Francisco Opera (Dalila, Samson et Dalila) at a Gala-2000 concert together with Placido Domingo. Her past highlight engagements include Carmen (leading role) at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, at Arena di Verona, at the Berlins State Opera (conductor Daniel Barenboim), at San Francisco Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, a Japanese tour with the Prague National Theater, The Norwegian National Opera, and Amfiteatro Romano di Cagliari; Norma (Adalgisa) at the Berlins State Opera; Rigoletto (Maddalena) at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Nabucco (Fenena) at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Viennese State Opera and the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, The Queen of Spades (Pauline) at the Opera-Bastille in Paris, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Theatre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Die Fledermaus (Princ Orlofsky) and Eugene Onegin (Olga) at the Opera-Bastille in Paris, and Cosi fan tutte (Dorabella) at the National Theater in Prague. On concert stages she has performed in Saint-Saënss Samson et Dalila (Dalila), in Verdis Falstaff (Meg Page) and Janáèeks Glagolitic Mass with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Colin Davis at the Barbican Hall, London and at the Lincoln Center, New York; in Musorgskys Songs and Dances of Death with New York Philharmonic conducted by Riccardo Chailly at Avery Fisher Hall, New York; in Khachaturians cantata Ode of Joy (first performance in the USA) at Carnegie Hall, New York; in Prokofievs Alexander Nevsky at the La Fenice, Venice, as well as in Berlin, Lisbon and Athens; in Rossinis Stabat Mater at the Montpellier International Festival; at a Gala concert with Placido Domingo at the Moscow Red Square; in Liszts Christus under E. Svetlanov at the Radio France International in Paris; she has given recitals also in Greece, France and Russia.
