Since the season 2001/02, Alexander Joel has an engagement as '1. Kapellmeister' at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Kapellmeister' at the Stadttheater Baden, followed by an employment at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt in 1998, where he was nominated as substitute chief-conductor only one year later. Alexander Joel gave his successful debut at the Wiener Volksoper and opened successfully the season 1999/2000, who then engaged him as 'Kapellmeister' for the season 2000/01. Since then he is related to this opera house as guest conductor.

Alexander Joel studied piano in Vienna at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, followed by the study of composition. In 1991, he started studying conducting at the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien and graduated in 1996 with distinction. During this time he participated in numerous masterclasses of prominent conductors including Hans Graf, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Gustav Kuhn, Sergiu Celibidache (1996 masterclasses in Tanglewood) and became the assistant to Julius Rudel at the Bern Opera House, to Muhai Tang at the Royal Opera House Stockholm and to Gustav Kuhn. @ @The young conductor (born in 1971) worked with numerous Symphony Orchestras in Germany and Austria, including the Kärntner Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra Graz, the Nürnberg Philharmonic, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz.
