The young Mezzosoprano was born in Hungary. In 1993 Andrea Szántó won the I. prize of the first International Barock Singing Competition and received several oratorio and concert performances. She worked with conductor Mr Tamas Vasary, Mr Kobayashi Ken-Ichiro and Mr Herbert Boek.In 1996 she took part in the CD-recording of Galuppi's Il Cafe di Campagna with conductor Mr Fabio Pirona (Hungaroton: HCD-31658-59). After her studies on the 'Franz Liszt'-Academy of Music in 1997 she got her first engagement by the Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest.

In 1998 she became a member of the Theater Bielefeld in Germany, made her Debut as Olga and such roles as Carmen, Nicklaus, Haensel and Maddalena.

Since 2000 Andrea Szántó belongs to the National Theater of Mannheim. Right by the Season Opening in 2000, she sang with great success the role of Judith in Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle with General Music Director Adam Fischer. Her repertory in Mannheim also includes the part of Charlotte (Werther), Romeo (Capuleti), Nicklaus (Hoffmann), Haensel, Oktavian (Rosenkavalier), Suzuki, Hermia, Annio, Sesto, Carmen, Orlofsky and Marina (Boris Godunov).

In 2003 Miss Szántó sang her first Sesto (La Clemenca di Tito) in the Hungrian State Opera House and made her debut at the "Bregenzer Festspiele" in the role of Sifka (Janacek: Das Tagebuch eines Verschollenen).
