| Born in Canada, he studied at McGill University (Montreal), the Banff Centre and the Institute for Dramatic Voices in Carmel, California. For the Vienna Volksoper his roles include Hoffegut (Die Vögel, Braunfels), Grigory (Boris Godunov), Pollione (Norma) and the title role in a new procution of Offenbachs Ritter Blaubart. In Canada, he has sung Manrico (Il Trovatore) in Ottawa, and Erik (Der fliegende Holländer) for Vancouver Opera. |
| In the 2001-02 season, he will sing Peter Grimes for LOpera de Montreal a role in which he first appeared to great acclaim for Detroits Michigan Opera Theatre. Also in fall 2001, he will make his New York City Opera debut as Eumete in Il Ritorno dUlisse in Patria. For Glimmerglass Opera he will make his role debut as Canio (Pagliacci), a role he will repeat in Montreal in November 2002. |
| He has performed Herodes (Salome) for both Oper Frankfurt and the Stuttgart Opera; Aegisth (Elektra) for San Francisco Opera and Das Tier/Die Lüge in the world premiere production of Langgaards Antichrist for the Tiroler Landestheater. |
| On the concert stage, he has performed Mahlers Das Lied von der Erde and Symphony No. 8, Beethoven Symphony No. 9, Britten War Requiem, Verdi Requiem, Bach Passions, Berlioz LEnfance du Christ and Handel Judas Maccabeus with orchestras across the USA and Canada.@ |
