| Born in Cork, she studied there and at the National Opera Studio. In 1984 she won the Golden Voice of Ireland, and the following year she represented Ireland in the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. She has appeared with the leading opera companies of the UK, her repertory including Papagena, Blonde, Norina, Susanna, Nannetta, Marzelline, Micaëla, Anne Trulove, Tanterabogus (The Fairy Queen), Columbina (The Jewel Box), Leonore (Masquerade) and the title role in H.K. Gruber's 'Gloria', among others. Her recent work has included Lisette (La rondine) and Adina with Opera North and Flight Controller (Jonathan Dove's Flight) with the Reisopera and Flanders Opera. Her plans include Frasquita at Glyndebourne, Nedda at the Royal Albert Hall, Clorinda with Opera Zuid, First Niece (Peter Grimes) at La Monnaie, Brussel, and numerous concert appearances. |
