Born in Fano, Patrizia Orciani graduated at the «G.B. Martini» Conservatory in Bologna with Leone Magiera and continued her studies with Rodolfo Celletti.

After her successful debut as Mimì in La Bohème at the Corte Malatestiana in Fano, she was invited by the Teatro alla Scala to perform in the world premiere of Girolamo Arrigo's Addio Garibaldi, followed by Suor Angelica under the guidance of Gianandrea Gavazzeni.

Subsequently Patrizia Orciani performed the role of Micaela in Carmen (Bari, Macerata and Arena di Verona), of Liù in Turandot (Arena di Verona, Catania and Tokyo), of Marguerite in Faust, of Giulietta in Les contes d'Hoffmann (Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife and Las Palmas), of Mimì in La Bohéme (Cordoba, Barcelona, Bonn) and the title role in Nina, ossia la pazza per amore.

She has sung in Madrid (Teatro de la Zarzuela; Les contes d'Hoffmann and La Bohème), Florence (Teatro Comunale; Carmina Burana and L'elisir d'amore), Bologna (Teatro Comunale; La rondine, Der Rosenkavalier, L'incoronazione di Poppea), Verona (Teatro Filarmonico; Bertoldo, Bertoldino e Cacasenno), at the Festival of Martina Franca (in the role of Cleopatra in Händel's Giulio Cesare), Salzburg (Mozarteum; Bertoldo, Bertoldino e Cacasenno), Venice (Teatro la Fenice; L'Enfant et les Sortilèges and Orfeo and Euridice) as well as in Palermo, Rome, Modena, Parma, Stuttgart and St. Gallen.

In recent seasons Patrizia Orciani has been heard in Le nozze di Figaro in occasion of the opening of the 1996/7 season at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, then she performed the role of Ms. Jessel in The Turn of the Screw at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and in Cagliari, of Selima in Turchi amanti at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, of Giulietta in Les contes d?Hoffmann at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania, of Lucieta in Wolf-Ferrari's Campiello at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and of Venus in Tannhäuser in occasion of the opening of the season at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo.

In 1999 Patrizia Orciani performed in Carmen at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania, followed by a concert at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna with a program that included music by Scarlatti. She has subsequently been heard in a new production of The Turn of the Screw at the Teatro Nacional de la Zarzuela in Madrid and in Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem with the Orchestra Sinfonica do Estado of São Paulo on occasion of the opening of the new Concert Hall, followed by several concerts in Fano and Parma.

In 1999/2000 she sang in The Rape of Lucretia at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, L'amore delle tre melarance at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in Cagliari.

2000/1 season brought Patrizia Orciani to the Teatro Regio di Torino for Falstaff, under the baton of Maurizio Barbacini, and to Rome, Modena and Ferrara for a new Teatro dell'Opera di Roma production of Prova d'orchestra.

More recently, she debuted with an outstanding success at the Wiener Staatsoper as Giulietta in Les contes d'Hoffmann, a role she also revisited at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and premièred the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, and of Madame Lidoine in Les dialogues des Carmélites at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania. At the Teatro Regio di Torino she has just gained outstanding approvals with her portraying of Agnes Sorel in Orleanskaya Deva, with Mirella Freni and under the baton of Stefano Ranzani.

Her future engagements include Carmen and Les contes d'Hoffmann at the Teatro Regio di Parma, Lakmè and Orleanskaya Deva at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Francesca da Rimini at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

Patrizia Orciani's discography includes Cimarosa's L'italiana in Londra (Livia) and Nina o sia la pazza per amore (Nina) for Bongiovanni, Giulio Cesare (Cleopatra) for Nuova Era, Bianca e Falliero (Costanza) for Ricordi and Il Signor Bruschino (Sofia) for Claves.
