After his debuts at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi in Don Pasquale and at the Arena Sferisterio di Macerata in Rigoletto, Ezio Maria Tisi began a brilliant career which brought him to perform in the major Italian theatres and festivals, such as the Teatro Massimo di Palermo (Salomè), the Teatro Comunale di Firenze (Salomè, Andrea Chénier), the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli (La Bohème, Salomè), the Arena di Verona (La traviata, La Gioconda), the Teatro Regio di Parma (Capriccio di Strauss), the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia (Gianni Schicchi), the Macerata Opera Festival (Tosca, Aida, Il signor Bruschino, Le nozze di Figaro), the Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Ariadne auf Naxos).

His great interest in Rossinian repertoire brought him to portray the principal roles in such operas as Il barbiere di Siviglia, La cambiale di matrimonio, Guglielmo Tell and Otello. On the concert side, he sang Stabat Mater, Petite Messe Solennelle and Miserere in several theatrical institutions.

In 1998 he sang, among others, Macbeth and Tannhäuser at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli under the baton of Gustav Kuhn and staged by Werner Herzog, Don Pasquale at the Rossini Opernfestival in Rugen and at the Ludwigsburg Festival, and Rossini?s Petite Messe Solennelle in Pesaro and Macerata.

1999 was marked by his successful interpretations of Andrea Chénier at the Teatro Regio di Parma, at the Teatro Valli di Reggio Emilia and at the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza.

In 2000 Ezio Maria Tisi performed, among others, Ariadne auf Naxos at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Salomè at the Arena di Verona and Aida in Speier.

During 2000/1 season he took part in the world première of Il fantasma di Canterville at the Teatro Comunale di Modena, sang in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Oper Frankfurt and at the Staatstheater in Stuttgart, Così fan tutte at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Il signor Bruschino in St. Moritz, Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and returned to the Arena di Verona for Il gatto con gli stivali.

The 2001/2 season saw him at the Teatro Sociale di Mantova for Andrea Chénier, at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania for La straniera and La battaglia di Legnano, in Busseto and in Ravenna with the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini in a new production of La traviata (staged by Zeffirelli), and again at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli in Capriccio. He has just returned to the Staatstheater Stuttgart to sing in the role of Osiride in Mosè, to Naples to sing in Samson et Dalila and to Cagliari for La Bohème (Alcindoro) and Capriccio.

Forthcoming engagements of Ezio Maria Tisi include La traviata (Dottor Grenvil) at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania.

His discography includes Le nozze di Figaro (Bartolo) under the baton of Gustav Kuhn and La gazzetta (Don Pomponio) with the conducting of Wilhelm Keitel, as well as Guglielmo Tell, Il barbiere di Siviglia by Paisiello, Il barbiere di Siviglia (Don Basilio) by Rossini and Don Pasquale (title role) for Arte Nova-Bmg.

Born in Fabriano, Ezio Maria Tisi studied with Maria Melani, Maria Zunica and Sesto Bruscantini at the Accademia d'Arte lirica in Osimo, graduating at the same time in Architecture.
