| Born in Montpellier, Marie-Ange Todorovitch studied first piano and then singing at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (with Jane Berbié) and at the Ecole de l'Opéra de Paris (under the guidance of Denise Dupleix). Winner of several prizes, she was the interpreter of the main roles in Eurydice, Diane, Cherubino et Djamileh. She subsequently was invited by the Glyndebourne Festival to sing as Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Pauline in Pique Dame and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro. |
| Her repertoire spans from Rossini, Mozart and Strauss to the French operas (Carmen, Charlotte, Dulcinée). |
| She sang in the most important theatrical institutions throughout France (Opéra National de Paris, Opéra Comique de Paris, Théâtre du Chátelet de Paris, operas of Marseille, Montpellier, Nancy, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Festival of Aix-en-Provence, Chorégies d'Orange) and Europe (Opéras de Anvers, Dresden, Genève, Lausanne, Liège, Pisa, La Fenice of Venice, Pays-Bas), performing in the roles of La Cenerentola, Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, Le Compositeur in Ariadne auf Naxos, Siebel in Faust, Stephano in Roméo et Juliette by Gounod, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Varvara in Katya Kabanova, Isolier in Le Comte Ory, Sesto in La clemenza di Tito, Giulietta in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Prince Charmant in Cendrillon by Massenet, Clara in Les Fiançailles au Couvent, L'Heure Espagnole (Concepcíon), La Vida Breve by De Falla (Salud), Carmen, Marguerite in La damnation de Faust in Genève opposite José Van Dam. |
| She also sang in the world premières of Clara (title role) by Hans Cefors at the Opéra Comique de Paris and Verlaine Paul by Georges Boeuf at the Opéra de Nancy. |
| In recent seasons Marie-Ange Todorovitch made three important debuts: in Carmen in St Etienne, Liège, Avignon and Bordeaux; in the role of Charlotte in a new production of Werther in Köln and, more recently, in the title role of La Périchole at the Opéra de Montecarlo and at Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse. She also experienced a great success singing in L'italiana in Algeri (Isabella), Don Quichotte (Dulcinée), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina), Don Carlo (Eboli) and L?heure espagnole (Concepcion) in Metz, Così fan tutte (Dorabella) and Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Giulietta) at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Werther (Charlotte) in Toulon, and taking part in La Belle Hélène (Oreste) at the Théâtre du Châtelet de Paris, conducted by Marc Minkowski and recorded by EMI. |
| Forthcoming engagements of Marie-Ange Todorovitch include Les contes d'Hoffmann at the Opéra Comique de Paris and in Orange, I Capuleti e i Montecchi and La Cenerentola in Liège, Le comte Ory at Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro, La damnation de Faust (Marguerite) in Lille, La grande Duchesse de Gérolstein in Graz and Zurich. |
| On the concert side, she performed with the Orchestre de Paris in Les Franes-juges and L'Enfance du Christ by Berlioz, with the Orchestre National d'Ile-de-France in Djamilch by Bizet and in L'Heure Espagnole, a work, this last, successfully sung in Tokyo with the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse. In the next future she will travel to Paris for a new interpretation of L'enfance du Christ with the Orchestre de Paris led by Christoph Eschenbach (January 2003). |
