Yaron Windmüller was born in Israel. After completing his studies in painting and piano in Tel Aviv, he studied singing under Ernst Haefliger and Malcolm King. He began his professional career in 1982. From 1986 through 1992, he was a soloist with the Bavarian State Theater at Gärtnerplatz München. Since then he has been a guest at the Braunschweig State Theatre, at the Augsburg Opera, the Bonn Opera as well as at the New Israel Opera. In 1989 he was awarded the Promoting Prize for Performing Arts of the Free State of Bavaria. The singer has worked with renowned conductors such as Sergiu Ceilibidache, Zubin Mehta, Gary Bertini and Helmut Rilling and has sung with orchestras like the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also performed in many music festivals in Europe and Israel. Yaron Windmüller has performed a wide range of opera roles, including Kowaljow (Shostakovich, 'The Nose'), Orfeo (Gluck, 'Orfeo ed Euridice'), Marcello (Puccini, 'La Bohème'), Don Alfonso (Mozart, 'Così fan tutte', Wozzeck (Berg, 'Wozzeck') and two world premieres with the title role of Franke's 'Motke der Dieb' and Edgar in Hosokawa's 'Vision of Lear'. Windmüller's career now embraces a broad spectrum of musical activities, including opera, oratorio, solo recitals and recordings. The singers represents a new generation of lieder singers, accompanied by pianists like Christoph Eschenbach, Robert Levin, Axel Bauni, and Thomas Hans. Recording include songs by Théodore Gouvy, lieder by Viktor Ullmann (both on ORFEO label) as well as Bialas' opera 'Aus der Matrazengruft'. Mr. Windmüller's dedication to contemporary music has expanded his varied repertoire, frequently performing works by Aribert Reimann, Wolfgang Rihm, Günter Bialas and others. Future projects include a concert with Brahms' 'Ein deutscher Requiem' and Schönberg's 'A Survivor from Warsaw' with the Orchestre de Paris conducted by Christoph Eschenbach and three performances of Hosokawa's 'Vision of Lear' at Shizuoka and Tokyo, Japan. |
