Bettini Fulvio
baritono

Born in Gorgonzola (Milan) in 1967, Fulvio Bettini made his musical studies under the guidance of Giorgio Bredolo, singing first as white voice and then as a baritone soloist. He completed his studies taking part in courses at the Pontificio Istituto di Musica in Milan, Master classes in lieder and ancient music in Holland and Germany, and attending piano and singing courses with Margareth Hayward at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan.

His vast concert repertoire spans from Bach?s Cantatas (among them, Ich habe genug BWV 82 and Ich will den Kreuzstab gerne tragen BWV 56) to works by composers as Monteverdi, Carissimi, Vivaldi, Telemann and Draghi. He took part in the recording of the Oratorio del Sepolcro La Vita nella Morte with the Ensemble Baroque de Limoges led by Christophe Coin.

With a predilection for Monteverdi's operas, he performed in the roles of Apollo in L'Orfeo at the Piccolo Teatro Studio di Milano with the ensemble Il Giardino Armonico, in London (recorded by BBC) and at the Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona conducted by Jordi Savall; Tancredi in Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda in Berlin, Paris, Innsbruck and at the Lucerne Festival; the role of Testo in the same opera with Il Giardino Armonico at the Baroque Festival in Melk and at Karajan Centrum in Vienna in 1999, and later in Santiago de Compostela under the baton of Jordi Savall. Again in 1999 he premièred the title role of Orfeo at the Styriarte Festival in Graz, under the baton of Giovanni Antonini, a role he has subsequently revisited at the Teatro Real in Madrid with Jordi Savall. In 2000 he returned to the Graz to take part in a new production of Händel's Agrippina.

Highlights of his concert performances include the Italian première of Glass?s Satyagraha at the Teatro Smeraldo di Milano (Arjuna), Wolf-Ferrari's Il Canzoniere with Antonio Ballista, Ravel?s Don Quichotte a Dulcinée with the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano and Donizetti's Nuits d'Eté a Pausilippe at the Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo.

Fulvio Bettini's discography includes the recordings of Beethoven's Die Ruinen von Athen, Berlioz's Lelio and Mendelssohn's Walpurgisnacht for RTSI of Lugano, a Cd of Rossini's Vocal chamber quartets on the Bongiovanni label, P.Molino?s La Pretesa Umana for RAI and the modern Oratorio Il Mondo alla Riversa by Galuppi (Fondazione Cini 2002 Prize) on the Chandos label.

On stage, he performed the role of Pennybank Billy in Weill?s Ascesa e caduta della città di Mahagonny with the staging of Virginio Puecher, Simon in Schubert?s Lazarus for As.Li.Co, and Allazim in Zaide.

In June 1998 he took part in the Salzburg Festival, singing in the world première of F.B. Conti's Il Martirio di San Lorenzo with Sara Mingardo and Isabel Rey, under the baton of Giovanni Antonini. More recently, he was invited by the Bach Festival in Schaffhausen, the Schwetzingen Festival and the Baroque Festival Festival of Arolsen; at the Haendel Festival in Halle and Festival Internazionale di Musica Antica di Urbino in Summer 2001 he sang in Haendel's Apollo e Dafne with Ensemble Zefiro led by Alfredo Bernardini.

In October 2001 he made his debut in Vivaldi's Farnace at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid with Jordi Savall, followed by Brahms's Ein Deutsches Requiem at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena under Filippo Maria Bressan, in the piano transcription for four hands with pianists Bruno Canino and Antonio Ballista.

Fulvio Bettini is engaged in a tour with La Petite Bande of Sarro's La Furba e lo Sciocco, to Holland, France, Lisbon and Tokyo.
