Born in Argentina, Ricardo Mirabelli made his musical studies at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza. |
He has subsequently specialised under the guidance of such teachers as Luigi Alva, Rockwell Blake, Franca Matteucci and Robert Kettelson. |
Winner and finalist of several international competitions, such as the Singing Competition Re-Se Jong in Seoul, the Concorso Belvedere and the Alfredo Kraus Competition in July 2002 (2nd Prize), he made his operatic debut singing Mozart's Bastiano e Bastiana in 1990. In 1995 he sang in Bach's Magnificat at Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires. |
Ricardo Mirabelli has subsequently travelled to Italy and started an intense operatic activity in the most important European theatres. With a predilection for Mozart?s roles, he performed Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) in Lucca, Ravenna, Livorno and Bastia (2000, under the baton of Piero Bellugi and with the staging of Lindsay Kemp), with As.Li.Co. in Milan (August 2000, with Carlo De Martini and Francesco Micheli), on a French tour to Grenoble, Laval, Dinan, Rennes, La Rouche sur Yon, Carcassone and Cognac (February 2002, led by Marco Berdondini and with the direction of Antonio Petris); Ferrando (Così fan tutte) in Milan in 1999; Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) at the Festival d'Opera Veneto of Bassano del Grappa (December 2000, under the baton of Marko Letonja and staged by Ulisse Santichi); Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Teatro Argentina in Rome (December 2001, with Boris Brott and Enrico Castiglione). |
He has also a great deal of experience in Rossini's roles: he performed Dorville (La scala di seta) at the Fondo Opera Festival (Trento) in July 2002 under the baton of Alessandro Arrigoni; Arnoldo (Guglielmo Tell) with As.Li.Co at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, in Ravenna, Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona, Como, Fermo; Conte d'Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in Savona, La Spezia and Imperia in November 2000 with Di Stefano and Ulisse Santichi, and, more recently, in Lima; Conte Alberto (L'occasione fa il ladro) in Tortona and Turin in March 2001 staged by Beppe Navello. |
For what Verdi?s repertoire is concerned, Ricardo Mirabelli counted among his successes performances of La traviata (Alfredo) at the Teatro Romano di Savigliano (Cuneo) in July 2002, led by Silvano Frontalini and staged by Francesco Sgrò, and of Falstaff (Fenton) in a new production of Franco Zeffirelli at the Teatro Segura in Lima (Peru) in November 2001. |
He has also recently performed in L?elisir d'amore at the Teatro Verdi di Lonigo (Ro) conducted by Giorgio Fabbri and directed by Danilo Rigosa, in a new Teatro La Fenice production of Manon Lescaut (Edmondo) at the Teatro Verdi di Padova (May 2001), with the conducting of Tiziano Severini and the staging of Bepi Morassi, in L'eroismo ridicolo by Spontini (Eugenio) at the Teatro L'Aquila di Fermo (October 1999; Eric Hull, conductor) and in Nino Rota's La notte di un nevrastenico at the Teatro Sociale di Como (December 2002). |
Ricardo Mirabelli?s repertoire also includes the roles of Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Werther (Werther), Lensky (Evgenij Onegin) and Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi). |
