Nir Kabaretti was born in Holon, Israel, in 1968. |
He studied piano and conducting at the Rubin Academy of Music of Tel Aviv University and completed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna. |
His most recent engagement, started in 2002, is as conductor and assistant to the Music Director, Maestro Zubin Mehta at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Italy, débuted with Mozart's The Abduction From the Seraglio. At the same year he was appointed Music director of the Raanana Symphonette Orchestra in Israel. |
His conducting début was in 1990 with the Israel Symphony Orchestra of Rishon Le Tzion (the Israel State Opera Orchestra in Tel Aviv). He has also conducted the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, La Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, La Orquesta Sinfonica de Madrid, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Niederösterreichisches Tonkünstlerorchester, the Bochumer Symphoniker, the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, and the Szeged and Debrecen Symphony Orchestras in Hungary. |
From 1997 to 2000 he was employed as pianist and Chorus Master at the@Vienna state opera, and in 1998 he was engaged by the Salzburg Festival@in the same capacity. In 1999-2000 he conducted the opera The Diary of Anne Frank (guest production of the Vienna state opera) at the Bregenz Festival, as well as at the Expo 2000 in Hannover.@From Autumn 2000 he was engaged as conductor and assistant to the Music Director at the Teatro Real in Madrid, and débuted with Rossini's La Cenerentola. |
Nir Kabaretti was awarded the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Grant for Young Conductors. In 1993 he won the Forum Junger Künstler Conducting Competition in Vienna, and in 1994 he was finalist in the International Competition for Conductors in Douai, France. |
