Winner of the 1998 «A. Belli» Competition of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto, Simona Todaro made her debut in the roles of Zerlina in Don Giovanni in Spoleto directed by Franco Ripa di Meana and of Sophie in Massenet's Werther at the Teatro Verdi di Terni. |
In 1999 she performed in Gnecco's Prove di un'opera seria at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, and Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna) and Dido and Aeneas (Belinda) in Spoleto. She also was among the winners of the «E. Caruso Competition» in Milan. |
2000 brought Simona Todaro to debut as Mimì in La Bohème at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and to perform in A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo. She subsequently sang as Anna in Nabucco at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and made her successful Glyndebourne Festival debut singing in La Bohème. Simona Todaro has just obtained great success revisiting the role of Mimì at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi and at the Teatro Sociale di Mantova, and debuting on the stage of the Teatro Comunale di Bolzano as interpreter of the role of Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, a production also toured to Rocigo and Trento. |
With her recent performance at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, Simona Todaro is very active on the concert side, having performed in Parma, Reggio Emilia, Sassuolo, Carpi, Modena, Bologna and Genoa. She has also took part in the gala concert «Una rosa per Genova», where she was acclaimed by the press, which found her to have remarkably dramatic temperament. |
Simona Todaro's repertoire also include Lucia di Lammermoor, I puritani, Rigoletto, La sonnambula, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, L'elisir d'amore, Gianni Schicchi, Don Giovanni, Don Pasquale and Le nozze di Figaro. |
In 1998 she was the winner of the 8th Edition of «The Actor - Singer» Competition sponsored by William Walton Foundation and also finalist at the «Iris Adami Corradetti» International Competition in Padova. |
In 1997 Simona Todaro won the «Giuseppe Verdi» International Competition in Parma. |
Born in Genoa in 1972, she started her singing studies with Elvina Ramella.@ |
