Sara Mingardo's discography includes the title role of Händel's Riccardo I conducted by Christophe Rousset with Decca («...a complete success...great vocal dexterity and strength...a singer to watch out for...», Gramophone, November 1996), a collection of Vivaldi's Cantatas, as well his Gloria, Magnificat and Stabat Mater, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with Rinaldo Alessandrini for Opus 111, Farnace with Jordi Savall for Aliavox, Bach's Cantatas for Archiv Produktion, Falstaff (Quickly) and a selection of Bach's Cantatas with John Eliot Gardiner (Philips), Mozart's Requiem on the Deutsche Grammophon label, Riccardo Primo for L'Oiseau Lyre. Sara Mingardo has just been the recipient of the prestigious Grammy Award for the recording of Les Troyens by Berlioz with Colin Davis and the London Symphony Orchestra, best opera and best classic recording of 2001. |
Sara Mingardo was born in Venice and studied at the «Benedetto Marcello» Conservatory with Paolo Ghitti and completed her studies with scholarship from the Accademia Chigiana of Siena. After winning various national and international vocal competitions, in 1987 she won the singing competition of Avezzano performing as Fidalma in Il matrimonio segreto. |
