After her successful debut in the role of Musetta in La Bohème, Olga Romanko started a brilliant career, having performed in the major opera and concert houses throughout the world. She portrayed the main roles in new productions of La forza del destino, Il trovatore, Otello, I pagliacci, Madama Butterfly, Falstaff, Le nozze di Figaro, Faust, Turandot, Un ballo in maschera, Aida, in the theatres of Moscow, St. Gallen, Berlin, Rotterdam, Zurich, Barcelona, La Coruna, Hamburg, Munich and Parma. She subsequently sang in Otello at the Arena di Verona, with Daniel Oren and Placido Domingo, and made her debut at the Teatro Regio di Torino in Jerusalem, under the baton of Bruno Campanella. She performed as protagonist in Gluck's Armida at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, and sang in Respighi's Fiamma (with Gelmetti and De Ana), for the opening of the 1997/8 season at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. |
In Las Palmas she made her debut in the role of Adriana Lecouvreur, under the baton of Marco Armiliato, and in February 1999 she gained great success singing Fedora with Placido Domingo at the Teatro di Bellas Artes in Mexico City. |
After the successful performance in Aida, in May 1999 Olga Romanko returned to the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli to sing in Iolanta. In 2000 she made her successful debut at the Wiener Statsoper with Il trovatore, sang Aida at the Shanghai Sport Stadium and took part in a concert dedicated to the Ranieri Family in Montecarlo, sharing the stage with Bruson e Dimitrova. @In May 2001 she performed again in a new production of Aida with Josè Cura directed Pier Luigi Pizzi at the Megaron Concert Hall in Athens. She subsequently sang Verdi's Requiem at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the baton of Bruno Bartoletti, Tosca at the State Opera in Prague and Il trovatore in Rotterdam.In September 2001 sang a Big Production of Aida in Paris Stade de France a front of 80.000 persons.@ @In the In the next future Olga Romanko will appear on the worlds great stages, from Munich to New Jersey, from Amsterdam to Buenos Aires, form Hamburg to Prague, with such works Andrea Chénier, Tosca, I Pagliacci, Un ballo in maschera, Manon Lescaut. |
Olga Romanko's discography includes the recordings of Suor Angelica (under the baton of Bruno Bartoletti) for Decca, songs by Stravinskij on the Melodya label, Aida and Trovatore for Companions, and Dvorak's Wanda for Orfeo. |
Born in Moscow, Olga Romanko graduated in singing at the Gnessin Conservatory of his native town, under the guidance of Mª Shilnikova. In 1987 she was the winner of the prestigious International Competition in Rio de Janeiro, and subsequently took part in masterclasses at the Teatro Regio di Parma with Battaglia, Boemi and Furlotti. In 1990 she was the first winner prize at the «Concorso Internazionale per Giovani Cantanti Lirici di Parma» and at the «Concorso Internazionale Vincenzo Bellini di Caltanissetta».@ |
