Paolo Olmi made his operatic debut in 1986 at the Teatro Communale di Bologna and this led to invitations to conduct at the leading European opera houses including Rome Opera and the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich. In recent seasons he has conducted at major European opera houses including the Maggio Musicale Florence, Barcelona Opera, Covent Garden, Deutsche Oper Berlin. Lyon Opera and Strasbourg Opera. In 1995, he made a successful US debut at the Chicago Lyric Opera.\n\nOn the concert platform he has conducted the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on numerous occasions both in London and in Europe. Following successful concerts in Spain with the Orchestra again in Athens later this year and at the 1998 Bucharest Festival. Forthcoming engagements include Don Carlos at Strasbourg Opera and Barber of Seville at Hamburg Opera.
