| Born in Parma, he begins his artistic activity in 1977, singing in Italian and foreign choruses. He wins in 1982 the "Voci verdiane" contest in Busseto, and takes part in recordings for the Swiss TV and for Philips, being employed in the "Rigoletto" recorded by M0 Sinopoli. In the meanwhile he carries on his studies, also in New York's Juilliard School. In 1987 he makes his debut, and an intense activity in Italy and abroad follows : he debuts at Parma's Teatro Regio in "Un ballo in maschera" and "La bohème", and in the Theatres of Darmstadt, Zurich, Hamburg and Bonn in operas like "La bohème", "Pagliacci", "Carmen", "Le nozze di Figaro", "Lucia di Lammermoor". He mantains a privileged partnership with his hometown's Opera House, singing in "La fanciulla del West", "Werther", "Manon", "Tosca", "Don Pasquale" and "Simon Boccanegra". In Italy he sings also in Piacenza, Cagliari, Jesi, Bari, Trieste, Turin, Palermo and Macerata, where he debuts substituting Renato Bruson in a "Traviata" performance. He sings later in Brescia and Cremona, first in "Tosca" and later in "La Gioconda", then in Turin in "Madama Butterfly", "Tosca" and "Gianni Schicchi", and later Venice for "Carmen". In the meanwhile he sings also in Dijon and Pamplona, where he will come back in "Lucia di Lammermoor". |
