The South Korean tenor Jae-Chul Bae (born 1969) graduated as a singer from the 'Han-Yang University' in Seul in 1994. After that he studied four years at the 'Giuseppe Verdi Concervatory' in Milan with Jenny Anvelt and Umberto Grilli, where he made his diploma in 1998. He is awarded in many international singing competitions such as 'Giulietta Simionato' in Milan 1998 (1. Prize), 'Francese Vinas' in Barcellona 1998 (The best tenor Prize), 'Placido Domingo Operalia' in Hamburg 1998 (Placido Domingo Prize), 'Bilbao' in Bilbao 1998 (1. Prize), 'Giuseppe Verdi' in Parma 1999 (one of the seven winners), 'Jaume Aragall' in Girona 1999 (1. Prize) and 'Francisca Cuart' in Palma de Mallorca 2000 (2. Prize). Mr. Bae is nowdays based in Alessandria, Italy. |
In 1998 Jae-Chul Bae sang in the winners gala concerts in Hamburg with Placido Domingo. In following year he performed Cavaradossi (Tosca) in Budapest, Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Bilbao and Rodolfo (La Bohème) in Tallinn. In 2000 he sang Missa da Requiem by Verdi in Palma di Mallorca and opera gala concerts in Pärnu, Bilbao and Madrid. The season 2000-01 brought him also to sing Cavaradossi to Seoul, Manrico (Il trovatore) to Sabadel Opera and Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto) to Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. Later that year he sang again the Requiem by Verdi in Tallinn and at the Riga Opera Festival in Latvia. |
In 2001 Mr Bae made his debuts at the Savonlinna Opera Festival (Duca in Rigoletto) and at the Vienna 'Volksoper' (Rodolfo in La Bohème). He also sang Rodolfo (La Bohème) in Wiesbaden and will sing it also in 2003 at the Wales National Opera in Cardiff. |
In his studied repertoire also belongs the roles like Don Carlo, Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), Macduff (Macbeth), Faust and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly). Besides his activity on the opera scenes he has sung concerts with various orchestras. @ @ |
