| Denève Stéphane | direttore d'orchestra |
Stephane Deneve, a charismatic and deeply gifted young conductor[] At the age of 29, he is not just among the best of the 'under-30' roster of emerging maestros; he is a schooled and exciting musician by anybody's standards. The Brahms symphony was alternately sweet and songful, taut and forceful, again and again, ones attention was drawn to the etched details of Brahms?s orchestration, and to the joy that both the conductor and his fine ensemble seemed to take in making them glisten. @(Washington Post, November 2001) |
A graduate of the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris where he was awarded a unanimous First Prize in 1995, Stéphane Denève began his career as Georg Solti's assistant for Bluebeards Castle with the Orchestre de Paris in 1995, and Don Giovanni at the Opera National de Paris followed by the Decca recording with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1996. He also assisted Georges Prêtre and James Conlon for Turandot and Traviata at the Opéra National de Paris in 1997 and Seiji Ozawa for Les dialogues des Carmélites at the Saito Kinen Festival in 1998. |
During those years, Stéphane Denève developed relationships with such orchestras as the Orchestre National de Bordeaux-Aquitaine, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and the Orchestre National d'Ile de France. In December 1997 he made his debut in Germany with Die Zauberflöte at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf, and was immediately engaged on the conducting staff from the following season. |
In 1999/2000 and 2000/1 seasons Stéphane Denève conducted such orchestras as the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Suisse Romande Orchestra, Dusseldorf Symphony, Liège Philharmonic and Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. He also gave performances of Les dialogues des Carmélites, Cosi Fan Tutte and Die Zauberflöte at the Paris National Opera, La traviata at Cologne Opera, Faust in Salzburg and Pelléas et Mélisande, Erwartung and Bluebeards Castle at Cincinnati Opera. |
In September-December 2001, Stéphane Denève made outstanding debuts with the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France and Washington National Symphony Orchestra. He has also recently conducted Peter Grimes at Opéra de Montpellier, La Bohème at the Opéra National de Paris and Béatrice and Bénédict at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. |
During 2002 and 2003, Stéphane Denève will conduct the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Komische Oper Orchestra, Taiwan Symphony Orchestra and Washington National Symphony. He will also give performances of Don Quichotte and Le nozze di Figaro at the Opéra National de Paris. |
