Born in Milan, Anna Laura Longo graduated in singing and piano in the Conservatory of her native town and of Lecco, studying under the guidance of her parents Silvana Debenedetti and Mino Longo. She specialised with Rodolfo Celletti. |
Aged 15, she made her debut in Rigoletto at the Teatro alle Vigne di Lodi. In 1992 she sang her first Barbiere di Siviglia in Milan and she took part in the «18° Festival della Valle d'Itria», performing in Roméo et Juliette by Gounod (under the baton of Carella) and in Demetrio e Polibio with Carraro, both recorded on Cd. |
In 1993 she sang as Oscar in Un ballo in maschera at the Conservatory G. Verdi in Milan, Nedda in I pagliacci at the Markam Theatre in Toronto, Mimì in La Bohème in Miami with the Broward Fort SO, and Suzel in L'amico Fritz at the Palais du Congres in Juan le Pins. |
In 1994 she performed in Martina Franca in La grande Duchesse de Gerolstein (Charlotte) and in Rigoletto at the Teatro Comunale di Cagliari. She subsequently was the winner of the «Concorso Internazionale di Roma» (1996) and of the «Concorso Tito Schipa» in Lecco. |
1997 brought Anna Laura Longo to Jesi, Il Cairo, and Mantua for Verdi's Otello (Desdemona), to Teatro Politeama Greco di Lecce for a recital and to Milan to perform as Adalgisa in Norma with Rai Orchestra. |
In 1998 she made her debut in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, where she also portrayed the role of Ines in La favorita. She then sang Carmina Burana in Düsseldorf and Essen, took part in three Gala Opera Nights with the Orchestra Philarmonia Hungarica under the baton of Daniel Lipton, as well as recitals in Frankfurt and Nurnberg. |
In 1998/9 season she returned to Jesi to sing in Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna), to Milan for Rossini's Stabat Mater, she sang in a concert at the Puccini Opera Festival in Torre del Lago, and was Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, where she also sang the main role in Gnecco's Prova di un'opera seria. |
1999/2000 season brought her to Bern and Bari to portray Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, to Sao Paolo for Rossini's Stabat Mater, to the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania to sing as Ninetta in L'amore delle tre melarance and to Trieste for Le nozze di Figaro and Il barbiere di Siviglia. |
She has subsequently sung in La Bohème (Mimì) at the Festival di Torre del Lago, in Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi) at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi and in Ginevra di Scozia (Dalinda) in Teatro Verdi di Trieste, as well as in concerts in Verona (Laudes Evangelis by Bucchi), L'Aquila, Rome (Suite Do-do by Azio Corghi), Lucca and Catania (Donizetti's Requiem). |
In the past season, she performed in La rondine (Lisette) at the Arena di Verona and in La straniera at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania, followed by the interpretations of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Opera Giocosa di Savona and the tour of L'amico Fritz to Livorno, Pisa and Lucca (under the baton of Roberto Tolomelli). |
At the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania she just was Blanche in Les dialogues des Carmélites, under the baton of Arthur Fagen. |
Anna Laura Longo's future engagements include Prodanà Nevesta (Esmeralda) at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste, La Bohème (Mimì) at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Turandot (Liù) in Torre del Lago and Catania, Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, and I pagliacci at the Teatro Municipale G.Verdi di Salerno. |
