| The British tenor Brian Galliford studied with David Pollard at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. In 1991 he made his home in Amsterdam and now studies with Kevin Smith. His concert and oratorio repertoire varies from Monteverdi and Händel to Britten and Stockhausen, including Berio's Sinfonia, Finzi's Dies Natalis and the Serenade for tenor, horn and strings by Benjamin Britten. He makes regular recital appearances with the Dutch pianist Marien van Nieukerken and the harpist Meija Blok. Opera roles include Ugone (Handel Flavio), Dr. Cajus (Verdi Falstaff), Beppe (Leoncavallo I Pagliacci), Male Chorus (Britten The Rape of Lucretia), Hans Scholl (Zimmermann Weisse Rose), Fatty (Weill Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny), and Fourth Jew (Strauss Salome). He has sung with various conductors including Valery Gergiev, Andreas Delfs, Anne Manson, David Parry, Reinbert de Leeuw and Jac van Steen. Last year he sang the role of Piet vom Faß in Le Grand Macabre by Ligeti for the Niedersächsische Staatstheater Hannover, and the Dutch Nationale Reisopera. The Hannover production was seen again in January this year at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon. Next season's engagements include Monostatos (Mozart Die Zauberflöte), in a production directed by Irene Brook and conducted by Ton Koopman, as well as Bob Boles (Britten Peter Grimes) both for the Nationale Reisopera.
