During the last seasons Yoram David obtained important successes in Japan, where he conducted Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Tokyo, on the podium of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra at the Festival Ferrara Musica conducting 'ostakovic's Ninth Symphony, in Rome with the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Mendelssohn, Bruch, Schumann), as well as in Brazil with the State Orchestra of São Paulo (Korngold, Schumann, Strauss). He has also recently conducted at the Teatro Regio di Torino (Bernstein, Gershwin), at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa (Hindemith, Beethoven), in Catania (Beethoven?s Ninth and Mahler's Third Symphonies), at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples (Sibelius, Schumann), at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, in Milan with the Orchestra Verdi (Schumann's Third Simphony and works by Bartòk; a concert dedicated to Luciano Berio), at the Arena di Verona, in Parma and at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

In the operatic field, he has recently conducted the first Italian production in German of Penderecki's Die Teufel von Loudun and Il prigioniero at the Teatro Regio di Torino, Madama Butterfly in Bilbao and Frankfurt, Don Giovanni in Verona.

Highlights of Yoram David's recordings are, among others, Ibert's Angélique and Smetana's Dalibor on Ricordi label.

In earlier seasons Yoram David has also conducted La traviata at the Israeli Festival and Die Zauberflöte at the Scottish Opera Glasgow. He made a very highly acclaimed debut in Italy conducting Berg's Lulu at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, which was immediately followed by Wozzeck.

He has also conducted the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the BBC Symphony and the Helsinki Philarmonic Orchestra.

Since 1990 he has established in Italy, and his activity has developed to a brilliant career in the major Italian theatres, such as the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova (Don Giovanni, L'italiana in Algeri, The Rake's progress, Il barbiere di Siviglia), La Fenice di Venezia (Der Rosenkavalier, Orfeo ed Euridice, Lucia di Lammermoor), the Teatro Massimo di Palermo (Bartòk's Il castello di Barbablù, Le nozze di Figaro), the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania (Elektra), the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples (Der Rosenkavalier), the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (Tosca), as well as the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, where he led symphonic concerts.

His previous experiences include his appointment as Erste Kapellmeister in Aachen, where during the five years of his directorship he led with particular acclaim operas of Mozart and Strauss and a cycle of the complete symphonies of Gustav Mahler.

From 1982 to 1984 Yoram David served as Principal Conductor of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, during which time he was a guest conductor of the leading German orchestras such as the Kölner Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester, the NDR Sinfonie Orchester of Hamburg, the SWR Sinfonie Orchester of Baden Baden and the Süddeutsche Rundfunk Orchester of Stuttgart. In 1984 he made his debut on the podium of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Yoram David made his debut with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, which was quickly followed, by his London debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. In 1977 he moved to Germany, where he flourished for many years, most notably at the Frankfurt Opera. In 1980 he made his debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, leading performances of Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, and Così fan tutte, and was quickly engaged by the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Staatstheater Stuttgart.

Born in Tel Aviv, Yoram David moved to Europe at the age of six. He received musical studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied piano, composition and conducting. He continued his studies in Vienna under Hans Swarowsky.
