Giovanni Meoni began very early his musical studies, with piano and singing lessons, and specialised with Leo Ferri. From 1990 to 1993 he won many national and international awards.@After his debut in 1991 as Marcello in La Bohème at the Teatro Vespasiano di Rieti, he started a brilliant career which brought him on the world?s greatest stages.

Highlights of his past performances include Les Huguenots (Nevers; Teatro Coccia di Novara), Carmen (Moralés; Sferisterio di Macerata and Teatro Comunale di Bologna), L'elisir d'amore (Belcore; Teatro Regio di Torino), Madama Butterfly (Sharpless; Teatro Verdi di Sassari). In 1993 he made his role debut as Germont in La Traviata at the Teatro Municipale di Casale Monferrato, a role that he subsequently revisited at the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, at the Teatro Coccia di Novara, at the Teatro Comunale di Vercelli and at the Opera Giocosa di Savona. Particularly renowned as interpreter of La Bohème, he sang as Schaunard at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste, at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi and at the Teatro Del Giglio di Lucca and as Marcello at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia.

In 1995 he debuted in Don Carlo (Rodrigo) at the Teatro Verdi di Padova, followed by the interpretation of Iris for the opening of the 1995/6 season of Teatro dell?Opera di Roma. He then reprised this role in Munich with Münchner Philarmoniker (under the baton of Gianluigi Gelmetti), where he also sang in La Rondine.

1996 brought him to debut in Lucia di Lammermoor (Enrico) at the Opera Giocosa di Savona, a work he has subsequently revisited at the Sferisterio di Macerata, and to Ascoli Piceno for I Pagliacci (Silvio).

After his debut in Ernani (Don Carlo) at the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza and the successful performance in Roberto Devereux at the Teatro Regio di Torino (with Bruno Campanella), Giovanni Meoni opened the 1998 season of the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza with I masnadieri (Francesco), followed by La favorite (Alphonse XI) at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, La Bohème by Leoncavallo (Rodolfo) and Lucia di Lammermoor at the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, and Iris at the Teatro Regio di Torino.

Giovanni Meoni gained great success performing in Poliuto (Severo) at the Carnegie Hall with the Opera Orchestra of New York.

In 1999 he returned to the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia for Maria di Rohan (Chevreuse), debuted in Yolanta (Robert) at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli and sang in Ernani in Gent and Anvers for the 500 years from the birthday of emperor Charles V.

In January 2000 Giovanni Meoni inaugurated at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo with Faust (Valentin), followed by La traviata at the Opéra de Marseille and La Bohème in Palermo and at the Arena Sferisterio di Macerata.

In 2001 he returned to France, at the Opéra de Montpellier, to sing in La traviata, successfully portrayed the role of Rodrigo in Don Carlo at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli and performed in various concerts for Verdi's centennial, between which, at the National Theatre of Kiev in Ukraine and, in Japan, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space on occasion of the 17th Tokyo Summer Festival 2001. More recently, Giovani Meoni successfully portrayed the role of Giorgio Germont at the Opera Giocosa di Savona, Belcore in L'elisir d'amore in Teramo and Don Carlo in Ernani at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli. He has subsequently debuted at the Hamburgische Staatsoper in Madama Butterfly, at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as Amonasro in Aida, and on the stage of the Arena di Verona in Aida and as Renato in Un ballo in maschera, a role he has just revisited at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna under the baton of Daniele Gatti.

Forthcoming engagements include, among others, Simon Boccanegra (Paolo Albiani) and La Bohème (Marcello) at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, La traviata (Giorgio Germont) at the Opéra du Rhin de Strasbourg, Il trovatore at the Baltimore Opera Company, Tosca in Cipro.
